My new favorite is from Great Plains Traditional Bow Company. It is 52", because I like short bows! It's 50# @ 28". The employee at GP, Nikolaus, picked the woods, mesquite and red cedar and purple spectroply for me. The grip was contoured to specs and stippled for a consistent grip in the wet, sweat, or gloves. They added a carbon core lam for better stability, and it is a great performer.

I think I have found the perfect bow...for me.

Nice looking bow!! Plus bonus points for being lefty!!

Steve, it's not a real model. It was made on their Youth Model form, but modified to be an adult bow. If you want one, tell them you want the "Branstine Signature Short Recurve." (BSSR)

Very nice!!! GP makes some nice bows.

And THAT is why people pay for custom bows. Would you like a Samick sage just as much? I doubt it.

Tell us how it works out, especially with the grip to your specs.

The grip seems perfect, so if I was right about what I wanted... I know that can be an issue. Bowyers know more about making bows than shooters do; this one is a modification from another bow I have, not quite a copy, but an improvement in fit for me. Nik at GP says the grip feels tiny to him, but this is a picture of his hand.

That is one nice looking bow you have there.

Very nice! I have some bigger meat hooks but I seem to shoot a smaller grip best. Good luck with the new toy!

Very nice looking bow. The profile picture of the riser looks similar to a Wing Slim line Pro I recently bought.

And the juniper (eastern red cedar) veneers. Nik chose the mesquite and cedar because we're from the Texas Panhandle, so that's as close to trees as we have in our homeland.

Short ,curvy sexy little thing I like it.

From: Matt B
Date: 05-Jul-22

I haven't chronographed it, but it seems really fast. (What new bow doesn't). It has no noticeable hand shock at all, which has been common to all my short bows, and is amazingly quiet. It wasn't loud or twangy at all with out silencers. This has not been common to my other short bows. My yarn puff balls made it even quieter. It does stack more than a longer bow (duh) but is pretty smooth to about 28". I wouldn't like it as much at 29 or 30" draw length. I'm a short 28". Probably 27.7 or 27.8".
