Hi I seen the web site for shy archery longbows the trophy and longhorn anyone know anything about these longbows

I haven't shot Jim Belcher's version of the Sky bows, but they were initially Earl Hoyt design. Both original Sky models I have shot and they are fine bows. I would think Jim's offerings are fine as well.

frankie, I had a Sky longbow for a couple weeks a few years ago. I returned it because I went up in weight, and it was a little too much weight for me. Other then that, it thought it was a good shooter, until I wore out! I ended up buying another recurve.

60hntsman, Have you seen threads that ask " Why did my thread get closed"? One of the most common answers is " What someone else posted on your thread." Your post should be in the classifieds. That's what it's for.

The Archery Hall of Fame is donating an Sky Trophy longbow from the Hoyt estate to the United Bowhunters of Missouri auction this coming Saturday, February 8th. Could be a chance for you to own a piece of history!

I have a Sky Trophy from Earl's shop, 60@28 66ntn. I had Earl and Ann sign it at the United Bowhunters of Missouri about a year before we lost Earl. It is a rugged all actionwood longbow. Have owned about 4 over the years and are a great bow.

I have a Belcher Patriot longbow, which might be a Sky longbow now. I like it- the first longbow in 4 lonbow purchases I really enjoy. Mine has a recurve style grip, which is one reason I like it. I consider it a very good performer. Wish I had started my efforts into longbows with this one.

I have an original Sky longbow from when Ann and Earl Hoyt ran the company and once Earl passed Ann H sold the company to Mathew's Matt McPherson. He slightly modified Earl's design and gave me one from the booth at the ATA show. It was the first one to leave the factory. Both bows are great. They had Earl's tools, drawings, etc. I remember seeing them at the factory . I would say Mr Belcher produces a quality bow if he follows those two designs. If memory serves me right Matt McPherson changed the grip and the bow was Offered in one wood. Seems when Earl had it you had some Choices on light, dark, glossy finish or dull for hunting. It's been awhile. I think McPherson offered the bow in 2003 and you could also get a display rack for it.

Earl typically signed the bows he made.

I have just returned to shooting after a long hiatus. I was having issues with consistency and accuracy, till I took my Hoyt made Sky Archery Trophy Longbow out. Something seemed to click and I started hitting. It is my oldest bow, the first longbow I ever shot and that certainly helped. At any rate I adore mine, now more than ever. If the current ones are even close to the quality of the originals, (and from what I read they are very close) then it is a superb bow. MIne is 69"AMO, 40#@28". The draw is smooth and stable. It is a dark green with matte finish and is gorgeous.

I have a 66" 55lb. Rogue that was made within the original design parameters prior to Sky being sold.

It is a Reflex/Deflex bow that I will put up against any R/D bow out there. I'll never get rid of that one.
