Does anyone know how much the schafer riser sold for on ebay yesterday?

From: Patrick
Date: 25-Apr-24

Yep, $1785...

Wow. I own several schafers but that is ridiculous.

Must’ve been something pretty unique??

Maybe in had Paul's fingerprints on it!!!!!!

From: Boomer

It only came with one limb!

If my memory serves me, always questionable, I believe one of Paul's silvertips sold last year on ebay for a good amount over $2,000. Of course it was a complete bow.

From: Babysaph Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

Wow. Still think that is ridiculous. You can get a new on for that.

From: Phil Magistro
Date: 26-Apr-24

Not made by Paul.

From: Patrick
Date: 26-Apr-24

It does say TD Silvertip by Schafer, that might be the reason for such a high bid

I don’t care who made it. And how do you know who made it?

From: Babysaph Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 26-Apr-24

But I do get that some people think that’s a big deal

From: HuumanCreed

There is always someone willing to pay for something they think its worth it.

Check out Blacktail Bows.....they have one that cost more then my first car.

Guys are selling selfbows for $2000.

It’s out of hand. But some people go for it. I couldn’t give away one of my Schafers.

I love my Shafer one piece recurve but the value I'm getting out a BJ BH Elite is considerable.

Babysaph - the seller contacted Beth at Schafer Silvertips and she confirmed it was built by Paul. That's how you know who made it.

Jimmyjumpup - let me know when you want to give away your Schafers.

Things are worth whatever somebody will pay for them.

From: PhantomWolf
Date: 26-Apr-24

Babysaph, besides Beth's confirming it was a bow built by Paul, I zoomed in on the signature on the bow and saw that it was the exact same as Paul's signings on my '87 silvertip he built for me.

From: Brad Lehmann

It's not that the bows are worth more than three years ago. It is that money is worth about thirty percent less than three years ago. It is getting pretty hard to play in this game when on a fixed income.

I don't really want Chinese bows but looks like that is all I can afford now.

From: Wudstix Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 26-Apr-24

I'm glad I have the bows I need, maybe one more used, if I get rid of a DHH.

From: Jimmyjumpup Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

Still wouldn’t pay that much. But that is just me. Bows are about the only things that are worth what someone will pay for them. Funny. I own a bunch of rental properties and they are appraised and that determines their worth. Of course there are always people who will buy them for more than what they are worth. That’s how people get upside down in their investments Fools. Funny how people will buy cars above their book value. I guess there are lots of people that will pay more than what something is worth.

Lots of people have more, beyond your perspective, ever think about that? Doesn't make them stupid, it makes them better off.

X2 Great Falls Everyone is entitled to do what they want with their own money. I have a Recurve Paul made and fixing to send it to Dave to have a set of lighter limbs made. Nice Bow

Wes Wallace's bows Can't get any better they are top of the Line. I own five Mentors of different wood Combo's.

From: Bob J

I'm always looking at beautiful recurves. Love all the combinations with gorgeous woods but currently don't think any bow would feel/shoot better to me than my Blacktail Sitka.

Currently got a boat taking my play money before I SELL it.

I am glad they are better off.

I'm happy with the small bowyer bows that I have. Probably have South to $3,000 total invested in all nine bows.

Phil, that riser WAS made by Paul. Not sure how you could make that comment so confidently without giving any indication as to why you believed it was not. Everything about the bow indicated it... signature, serial number, grip design, and material used.

Someone got a fantastic riser that is becoming harder to find. Good for them.

From: HuumanCreed

I just went to a local gun show, someone was selling hand craft knives ranging from 100-700. Some of them were beautiful. But I'm sorry, I lost too many $10-20 knives in the wood to carry around anything like that. But I don't see anything wrong with someone that does if they are able to.

I dont think it just bows, there is always a market for mass produced good and high end product. My retired neighbor drive a Toyota daily, but he just spent a ton of money buying a vintage car that was his dream car as a teenager. Nothing wrong with that.

I guess you are right. Everyone has different things they like to spend money on. I apologize

SadddleHill, I understand the confusion but I wasn't commenting on who made the bow that sold on eBay. My comment was a response to Babysaph when he said -

"Wow. Still think that is ridiculous. You can get a new on for that. "

You can get a new one but not one that is made by Paul.

Price is whatever people are willing to pay, unfortunately the markets are passing me by these days.
