Rooty , You are like me love to “Tinker” and make your own stuff . I got to say Trap does make a sweet feather rest and they vary in price from different vendors .

Feather rests may be one of the easiest to make. Rooty, I know you could make a few in a half hour.

Funny you should say that. I have discussed with Larry Root on the construction. The Roots used a gasket base material. Larry remembers stinking up the basement making them for his dad. Here's a pic of one he probably made close to the same year I was born.

The toothbrush rest is rather nasty…

Keefer's a few Root bows of this era came with unlined plates like yours

BT true but should hold up to the downward pressure of string walking.

I like the slope toward the window you put on the bristles. Should work pretty good.

How did you glue it on? Double sided tape? I’ve got a bow I was wanna try this on.

Worst thing about puttering... Three hours, six iterations, my wife wonders why I'm not in for dinner, and I realized that the first plan was the best.
