Anyone strip perfectly fletching just because you’re board or wanted to change colors for some crazy reason….

From: MnM
Date: 27-Mar-24

(perfectly good)

From: Mike E
Date: 27-Mar-24

Nope, it stays on 'till the shaft doesn't fly right or it tears off. Price of feathers is too high to be fickle.

From: fdp

I have. Not often..but I've done it.

Never .

MnM? I hope that You are talking Aluminum or CARBON shafts? Stripping fletching from WOODEN shafts is a real BOOGA-BEAR! Trust me on this! BEEN THERE & TRIED THAT! NOT ANY FUN!

Yes. Only for my wife.

My feathers usually look like a spent hen on her way to the soup factory before I switch them out.

I'm with Brad and Deno on this one!

Yes, I get bored looking at the same arrows. I have some GT trads that are over 10 years old that have been refletched 3 or 4 times at least. Course I use wraps which makes it easier. Now I have my eyes on a dozen Axis that need to be red and black.

From: John Sullins
Date: 28-Mar-24

Yes, done it many times.

From: JusPassin

seldom

From: smrobertson

Yes, I've done this, many times.

My arrows must have brightly colored feathers! Yellow, white, chartreuse, etc. I use a very sharp thin bladed pocket knife or a exact type knife to strip off feathers. Wood shafts are a little more difficult, so I'm careful not to cut into the shaft.

I will state, that I keep old shafts that have the dyed barred fletchings, that was popular years ago. I enjoy the muted yellows and oranges and other colors as it brings a bit of nostalgia.

I use fletch tape so on carbon or aluminum it's easy. Different on wood can cause damage. Not often

From: Live2Hunt
Date: 28-Mar-24

Same for me Rooty, tape. I can strip off with dental floss and re- apply if I do not like something. Or, if I break a shaft with good fletching, I can remove and put on another shaft.

Oh yes many times. With the price of things now probably not. :-) Have fun and let us see them.

No, I wait till the feathers are shot.

From: Corax_latrans

I have more than enough trouble keeping up with the ones which really really need it…

Brad and Clydebow made me laugh!!

I don’t usually try to remove and reuse, but I break arrows often enough that I probably should learn how to make do with that….

From: reddogge

Never, ever.

I have in the past but with the price of feathers, not anymore.

No, but I’m about to!! Can’t see these purple (pretty) ones worth a hoot!! Going to check my count of fluorescent yellow ones now!!

Not since feathers went on the gold standard.

From: olddogrib
Date: 28-Mar-24

No, and at today's prices I'll always be shooting "roll my owns" from my Stykzz-processed wings like I've done for many years.

Never

From: Lastmohecken

Normally, no. But I did recently, because I was running out of time and was trying to put together a bunch of arrows for a 3D match and was low on shafting, etc. So, I stripped some 3 fletch feathers, off of both some factory fletched arrows and some I had made before, to get a few more arrows that matched some new ones I had made with 4 each 4" fletches. Some of the 3 fletched ones were getting a little rough and beat up, anyway.
