The last week or so has seen several things sent to me to be used to make packages to set up these young people with bows. I have received things such as bows, arrows, feathers, quivers, arm guards, tabs, gloves, points of various kinds as well as broadheads.

The great thing was several of the things I was about out of. Quivers go quick, so do broadheads but so does a lot of things. I don't say who donated anything anymore to avoid problems for the donators. I have 3 people to give bows to hopefully this weekend or the next.

Then, after that, have another young man in his early 20s that may be getting a longbow. I try to give them a bow, quiver, arrows with field points and broadheads, flu flu's, arm guard, tab or glove, and as much help as possible. Anyways, several Wallers have donated various things that have all added up to make packages to give away. Very cool, awesome people!

It appears that I may be getting a recurve for the 12 year old son of one of the men, this will really be awesome. I can see them shooting together in the back yard, father and son. Very cool and again, thanks to another Waller.

Today, I put together the 2nd Shakespeare Take Down recurve that was sent to me by the same Waller. I happened to have one string that actually fit it so I strung it and began setting it up to shoot off of the shelf. I glued a small narrow leather strip on first to make a high spot on bottom and side before adding a bigger piece of soft leather for the arrow to ride on and against.

I will shoot and adjust the brace height to get it as quiet as I can and also set up the nock set. Then, both bows and accessories will be ready to be given to the 2 brothers. I have also set up a 3rd bow with accessories to be given to Jeff, around 30 years old. Jeff has a 12 year old son that will be possibly getting a recurve himself if he wants it. then it will be a father and son give. The recurve is being donated by another Waller, it just keeps on happening.

I also have a Ben Pearson longbow that I hope to give to a young man, Simeon sometime in a few weeks. Pretty cool stuff, Jerry

And yet another couple of Wallers have stepped forward with donations. It's not the how big or how much, it all adds up eventually to make a package for someone. I can refinish to some degree a rough looking bow, not so hot on some repairs. But I do know how to sand and to apply some finishes. I did some work on a bow yesterday, will camo it today to help cover the blemish repair and the young man will be excited to get it. About the time that I think that I am sitting good with stuff, two or three bows later, I am back to being out or nearly out of something. it is what it is. I get these guys started and hopefully started right, they can always upgrade later if they feel the need to. This is actually therapy for me as a care giver. gets my mind off of things. Jerry
