Anyone use the bullheads for turkeys? I know they seem to work well with compounds but I haven’t seen where many trad shooters use them. I’m debating trying them this year.

I use them and they work great, I'm shooting 50# but others have used them with 45#. I'd take one for practice and make sure they fly good for you.

I don't use them check out Robert Carter u - tube video on bow hunting shot placement on turkeys. They show shooting a turkey in the hip area breaking that hip bone. Turkeys can't fly or run then.

Im shooting 46#. I tried them and they fly perfect. I think I will give them a try this year. Seems like they would give more room for error with those large blades.

I use Bullheads miss or dead turkey.

If you do the math there is more margin for error with a Bullhead than a conventional broadhead for a killing shot because of the width of the Bullheads.

Has anyone ever shot one strutting towards you head on with a stickbow/bullhead?

Jack, thanks for the info. That’s what I needed to hear.

Guys report back in with results please. I practice shooting into a sand pile, a few shots then replace blades. I also remove blades and grip them with needle nose vise grips to run them thru a RADA sharpener.

How did the Rada sharpener work on those blades.

From: Jack Whitmrie jr

It works good with the needle nose vise grips clipped on end with screw hole. Above turkey was shot with one sharpened that way.

By the way it was shot with a 49# Schafer at about 10 yds over decoys.

Great picture Jack!

I've never used a Bullhead yet but I have used other Magnus heads for deer with excellent results.

Another thing to keep in mind in regards to Manus Heads, they have a lifetime warranty. Here is a quote taken directly from their website:

"Our Magnus Lifetime Replacement Guarantee is very simple. If at any time you break, bend or have a concern with any Magnus Broadhead, send it to us and we replace it. As an example: When you shoot through an animal and the broadhead hits a rock on the ground and is damaged, send it in and we replace it. ITS THAT SIMPLE!!"

Pretty hard to beat that.

The bullheads work fine. I have killed a couple with those heads, and a couple with the Solid D-CAP broadheads. I prefer the Solid D-CAP heads because they are 200 grains and match my arrow setups better, and are a little stronger. I broke blades on the bullheads on the birds that I shot. Both great options.

One word of caution, check the blades to make sure are all lined up correctly. I had one that had extra paint under the blade and that one took off like a plane leaving the ground. It shot 3 ft high at 15 yds.

((("I use Bullheads miss or dead turkey.")))

... or... you could hit one dead center with the ferrule, watch him roll back about three feet, puff up, walk off and start gobbling.

I wonder if anyone else has had that happen?

From: Jack Whitmrie jr

Actually I just read about someone else doing that Mr Casto.

This is the bird from the video. His head was just barely hanging on, but I positioned it for the photo so it is hard to tell.

I don’t know whether I prefer using the Bullhead or the D-Cap heads more than just using a big Jim big 3 or large snuffer with the string tracker. There is something awesome about the sound of a string tracker peeling line.

Watched the video it was nice!

pdk25, Besides the bullhead I have a snuffer on a string in my quiver in case I miss the first shot. It worked that way last year!

From: pdk25

I actually killed a bird at real close range with a big jim big 3 to the neck, lol. Those and snuffers are great turkey heads.

Skip to near the end. He took forever to close the gap and was too close to the blind for a body shot.
