I have not seen much talk about shrews, they just not popular anymore? I had a few back in the day and liked them. Post pics if ya still shooting Shrew<><

I own and shoot a Siberian Tiger Shrew that I bought used off the lw classifieds a few years ago. Very pleased with mine.

Never shot one, always wanted one. But Traditional archery seems to follow fads, todays hot bow is soon replaced with tomorrows hot bow. I shouldn't talk I've gone from longbow to recurve back to longbow and back to recurve more times than I can remember. In the end there are too many great bows.

The back quiver with a shrew pocket was very impressive I seen back at the trad bow expo years ago. I really wanted one but didn’t pull the trigger. I would love to see a picture if any out there

They make the Shrew back quiver in Europe, you can order from Shrew bows.

I purchased a Shrew Super Samurai in Dec 2015 with Kingswood riser. Prior to ordering to be honest I never thought I'd like. Best shooting bow I've ever shot. Goes everywhere I shoot. I miss Ron talking here about the Shrews and poems.

I have a Gregg Coffey made shrew I still shoot. Used it for my once in a lifetime Colorado bull moose tag last fall. Love it.

This April I will have had my Shrew for a year. It's a 52" 40# Classic Hunter II Siberian Tiger longbow. A good shooting bow.

Ron LaClair are used to be a staple here on the leather wall with posts and comments. With his passing a couple of years ago you do not see as much talk here because he is missing. However, shrew bows are as popular as ever, including a strong Europe presence, with Tim Cosgrove and Henry Bodnik owning the company now. They do a lot of promotion on Facebook and Instagram.

Ron had worked with Henry and Tim for four years before his passing with the transition of the business. The Shrew’s being produced now by Bodnik Bows are as fine of shooting and quality as any Shrew bows. We still get together at Shrewhaven Lodge each fall (now with Ron’s son) and celebrate the tradition (and testing prototypes of new products) just as we did when Ron was alive.

Attached is our toast to Ron’s memory in camp last fall.

Haave a Super Shrew built by Gregg. It will be the last bow out of my stable!

I follow the news on Shrew bows on FB. I believe Shrews are selling just as fast they can make them. They even have a new model called the Shrew Scout. The limb design is in between the Shrew longbow and recurve and it comes in 50" and 52" amo.

Good to see they are still popular. Just never see them talked about much anywhere. <><

The Leatherwall goes through periods of “Hot Bows” right now the “ Hot Bows” are the ASL or Hill style longbows. Black Widow and Shrew are out of the spotlight right now… LOL

I noticed that when I go to a shoot my Shrew draws a lot of attention.

Never owned a Shrew, but did own a 60” Griffin crafted by John McCollough. Not sure of the spelling. He used to craft the Shrew bows. That Griffin was one of my best all time favorite bows. I’d love to have another one.

John McCullough and Gregg Coffey both built excellent Shrews. My first was a McCullough built Samurai in 1999 and have owned 4 or 5 Coffey built Shrews. The new Shrew Scout is a hybrid but some older Shrew owners here may have a Coffey build Scout model that is a 58” or 60” true 50’s style recurve.

From: B.T.

I had a Shrew Scout 60” recurve made, I think it was the first because it took a l-o-n-g time to get. I think it was 18 months then it got lost in the mail twice, it was a cool bow.

This is my 52” shrew scout recurve,…50# @ 28”.

Don’t know how old it is, the bow is laminated end grain action wood.

Quiet and fast.

This is the best pic I have right now. ( I’m not at home now )

Lloyd, that would be interesting if your 52” bow was labeled ‘Scout’ instead of the ‘Lil Favorite’. I believe Ron had 52” and 54” lengths as ‘Lil Favorite and 58” and 60” as Scouts. But of course there’s always exceptions.

My Coffee built shrew is the best. Also have 3 Griffins that are a close 2nd.

Nice salute to Ron, Ray Lyon. I had a few conversations with Ron on the phone and enjoyed his common sense greatly. Continue the tribute each fall, and raise a glass for all of the rest of us to Ron.

Pictured is my 60-inch, 51 lb. at my 30-inch draw Super Shrew Samurai made by Ron's bower back in the day. It's in a Shrew back quiver with the sleeve for the bow, which was used a couple of times on the mountain bike, several times on horseback, but mostly got tucked into it when dragging mule deer out of the late hunt with snow on the ground. It was handy as heck for that and freed up both hands for the drag, as well as keeping the bow mostly out of the mountain mahoganies, junipers, and brush.

The bow is as smooth pulling to 30-inches as any bow I own and much more so than most. I've kind of neglected it and need to get it back in action. It is not necessarily the fastest bow in the bunch but not slow either, and the shortness requires me to pay more attention to my sloppy releases, but it is a pleasure to shoot and hunt with.

Ray Lyon……yea are correct . My Shrew isn’t Scout….

I checked and have another pic. It is a Shrew Stalker.

Here is the pic with the name on the limb.

Lloyd that may be an early model before the Lil Favorite was coined. John McCullogh used a lot of action wood veneers early on.
