only a 4x4 but works good for this old timer. right at the bottom of 3 ridges that come together by our little spring fed creek. works very well with a bear super mag anyway. amazing how i've had deer walk right by me as i sit in there with my "lil buddy heater going! you young guys can freeze in your 20 foot high treestands as i have done also in my younger days. and if you are 82 and still doing it more power to ye! any other bowhunters besides me hunt like this?

Good lookin woods there IowaCS. Cool old shack too, I can see why you have deer walk right past you! I sometimes hunt from an old ground blind I put together from sticks & branches, fun...and yep, they walk right by...can almost touch them sometimes! Just another reward to be found in the cathedral of the great outdoors!

I like my stand but have always enjoyed the ground better. Especially on those cold days, a buddy introduced me to a lil buddy heater last season, it was great

That's a good looking little blind, glad you like it. Last few years I've really enjoyed hunting out of some pop up blinds that my buddy lets me set up on his land. I set them up and leave them out all season long. The deer get used to them and even come over and bed right beside them. I can only hope to be around for 22 more years much less still hunting. Hope you have many more hunts in your little shack.

I do. More and more as the years creep by. Good luck out there and enjoy the hunt, that’s what it’s all about. 8-)

I used to have one stand that was nearly perfect. My kids and grandkids all wanted to hunt from it (rifle). Just off a field like the one pictured. Eventually, I just started using my bow all the time, putting up a blind in the brush. I was a little surprised how some does would be spooked by it. But the stand up about ten feet on old telephone poles? Never bothered them.

If it allows us older guy's another season or two, I'm all for it!!the older we get it seems the colder it gets! It's all about being out there anyway!
