Like to see the different ways you all sharpen your broadheads

From: Andy Man
Date: 07-Mar-24

File mostly RADA next

From: Stix
Date: 07-Mar-24

RADA here. Hollow ground edge is really sharp.

3 blades with Stay sharp 344, Accu-Sharp hand held, RADA

From: MnM
Date: 07-Mar-24

From: two4hooking

Usually a file and then a couple of strokes with a ceramic rod.

From: Murph
Date: 07-Mar-24

File and then stone

From: HEXX
Date: 07-Mar-24

2 blade single bevel, oil stone unless blade is chipped, then a hobby bench grinder first.

From: Breakfast Boy Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

3 blades with a file and fine stone. 2 blades I use a KME sharpener.

I've found this little sharpener to be very effective.

Sharp enough to pass right on through.

The Rada does a nice job for me as well and will put a nice edge back on your steak knives too.

From: Supernaut
Date: 08-Mar-24

I should add that I strop on a piece of cardboard for the finishing touch.

From: Jack Whitmrie jr

2 blades Tru angle system ( files and Diamond stone) for years but been using RADA lately.

3 Blades -flat diamond stone then stop on leather

Tru Angle system for two blade Eskimo's and Razorheads. It's a shame they aren't made anymore as they make a broadhead like a Gillette razorblade.

Most of the time I just use a file but sometimes I'll also use my Smith's sharpener.

From: Jim Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 08-Mar-24

Rada for me on 2 blades and mill file and a butcher's steel on 3 blades.

From: Clydebow
Date: 08-Mar-24

File and Rada. Rada works great on Pampered Chef ceramic knifes.

From: Jason316 Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 08-Mar-24

bastard file and a piece of old blue jeans for my 3 blade VPA's.

From: six

3Rivers 2-Blade CC Sharpener

From: Phil Magistro
Date: 08-Mar-24

I have Rada, 3Rivers and other carbide sharpeners and they work well on two blade heads and knives. I've also accumulated other sharpeners that use files or stones but for my hunting heads I use a Lansky sharpener. It puts a perfect razor edge on those heads.

From: Supernaut
Date: 08-Mar-24

Phil, I like my Lansky as well.

When you are using it to sharpen your broadheads are you able to use the clamp or do you just free hand the angle on the stones?

From: dnovo Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 08-Mar-24

Mostly I use an 8 or 10" mill file and then a Jewel stik.

From: Maclean Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 08-Mar-24

Being sharpening challenged I went with the KME knife sharpener. I use it on my single bevel 2 blades, and it gets them so sharp it makes me nervous when I glue them on my shafts. I works equally well for my knives.

KME and Rada

From: Phil Magistro
Date: 08-Mar-24

Supernaut, I use the clamp.

From: Supernaut
Date: 08-Mar-24

Thanks Phil.

I can never seem to get the broadhead to stay properly in the clamp to allow the use of the angle guides. I'm sure it's operator error on my end.

KME

From: Wapiti - - M. S. Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Rada!

From: N Y Yankee
Date: 08-Mar-24

8" mill bastard and a RADA or maybe an Accusharp tool. Usually RADA

From: Old Shortstop Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

KME knife sharpener with the broadhead jaws for 2-blades. Diamond sones and a good leather strop for 3-blades. I usually start with a file on both and then go to the finer sharpening.

KME and in the field I touch them up with a RADA

From: Slapstick

Rada ans a leather strop is all I use these days.

From: loose arrow
Date: 08-Mar-24

Stay Sharp 344 for me for my 3 blades.

From: Tree
Date: 08-Mar-24

Usually a file and then I finish up with a jewel stick ….i do that for 2 and 3 blade heads.

From: Stumpkiller
Date: 08-Mar-24

Grobet single-cut fine bastard file to set the edge and a diamond steel to smooth it up afterwards. A Grizzly file in my pack to dress up a broadhead in the field.

From: AK Pathfinder
Date: 08-Mar-24

I use the Rada and crock sticks for my 2 blade heads and it gets them plenty sharp.

From: BigB Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 09-Mar-24

Rada for 2 blade and 3Rivers 3 blade sharpener

From: GUTPILEPA
Date: 09-Mar-24

I absolutely love my Workshop sharpener

From: Beendare
Date: 09-Mar-24

IMO, It’s all part of the system.

One of the reasons why I shoot a two blade broadhead is because they are so easy to sharpen and touchup, then use over and over again. Lowers my cost.

I use a small flat diamond stone, or the V shaped chopsticks.

From: Mint Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 09-Mar-24

Three blades on a DMT diamond bench stone.

Two blades on the same stone with KME

Simmons sharks with the RADA or simmons sharpener.

From: Tim Hoeck
Date: 09-Mar-24

Rada on 2 blade and wet /dry sandpaper on 3 blade

From: charley
Date: 10-Mar-24

Ceramic stick for minor honing. File or belt sander for big repairs. Honing compound on a scrap of cardboard to get scary sharp.

From: Rocky
Date: 10-Mar-24

File and steel.

From: knobby
