Went again today, long walk, and enjoyed a good day of shooting, scouting. Spring woods just get better daily!

Last shot of day, a familiar log I've taken before. It's been mentioned of favorite ways to practice? Always was stumping & Roving for me, this shot very much like a deer shot. Very pleased with today's results!

What bow is that? Specs?

From: Bearcurve59

Howard Hill Cheetah, 68", 43#@28, but I'm getting 46-47# @ my 29.5" draw, I'm fairly certain. Only fault to a Cheetah is be careful where you lay it, can be hard to find if not!

That's my favorite way to practice. Pick a stump/leaf/pinecone and shoot. Another favorite is to shoot between trees to thread the needle to the target. Do you guys believe for hunting practice shooting broadheads is better than field tips? Do you shoot them into dirt banks?

Wow. Some nice shooting and beautiful bow (and quiver) Bearcurve59!

I got out this morning, but phone died after FSOTD. Just got this old Sunset Hill back from Nate this week. 4th time he's worked it since it started it's life as a 75# bow.

Keekeerun, I hardly ever shoot my BHs, too rocky everywhere here. But I've got one place that I'll go to to shoot em occasionally if the need arises. Once I know they're flying right, no need cause POI is same for each. Zonic, love that SSHill, I'd just like to have chance to really see one and shoot it some!

David have you ever harvested a Turkey with a bow?

Forgot to ask do you shoot with a tab or glove?

2022, I got in a near perfect setup, tree seat & leafy suit, shot at one perfect broadside at no more 10yds, arrow barely under him, just behind legs! He kinda jumped and spun started walking directly away. Had another arrow on ground, managed to get it on string. Shot him almost broadside, for sure hit one hip, but angled out other side. I just knew from it's reaction I gad him. He almost fell, stayed on his feet, wobbled on out. Looked like his head would hit ground any time, so I just sat there. He made it to a high know on ridge, and finally managed to jump enough to sail down in into a hollow. Never found him! Shot stepped off at 22yds, and if I'd run to him immediately I'd had him! Next time I will. Shot another few years before but to high and it flew, no doubt died but I never found it. I've always hunted from a stool or tree seat & leafy suit. Back in 2005-07 I hunted this way in a really good place, Lotta close and very close, but never got drawed back before being busted! It's a lotta fun, and I'm gonna try it again this year! I've just in last year converted to a tab, and I'm hooked, I'll never go back to a glove. I like the thin Calf Hair neet tabs, almost l8ke bare fingers, and they're no problem hunting, which is why I stayed with a glove so long, but now, I love a tab!

But I've just missed a couple in past 3 years also!

Absolutely the most enjoyable way to practice while enjoying the woods at the same time. Thanks for the trip.

Good luck this year with the Turkeys. I have shot at them and hit just a little to high or low but have always had goodtime anyways trying to call them into range. Maybe one day it will all come together. Turkeys are great fun to hunt!

Well sure had a good stumping day today! Went to a new area I been meaning to scout long time. One those that just seems to close & easy to hunt. Started walking really old mine haul roads, and logging roads just above the riverbed & highway, parallel to them, barely 150ft above. Went primarily looking for turkey sign, took my back quiver with plenty blunts and judos, and my HH Cheetah. I wound up literally still hunting for deer, no wouldn't have shot one, but I hunted like I was! Saw a doe and fawn immediately, then eventually two more does in separate area. Man, it was my funnest day of hunting in some time. Just low rolling ridges & slopes, old roads junctions entire way, perfect still hunting spot! I took pics and videos of the deeer. Wouldn't have gotten a shot but came close on every deer! Just pure fun, good stumping, and the spring woods coming alive. Thank Lord for today especially!
