So I finally fished this bow, I had started on it but got sidelined with head surgery that resulted with 17 staples in the back of my head plus stitches.

I had previously managed to split a really awful osage stave 2 times to get 2 possible walking stick pieces. The last piece was surprisingly nice but narrow and short. So, it was about an inch wide (in places) and 52" long. I had been told no lifting or bending over but I was bored and so very lightly and carefully, began working the piece.

The whole goal was a lightweight kids bow for the grandkids. It ended up around 15# at around 16" or so. Three grandkids, two boys and one girl shot it and loved it so it was quite the success. The talk of rabbit hunting came up and they were all sure that they could get the job done. Of course they all had to shoot the 3D deer target. They each shot simple river cane arrows with dull nail heads. To them, it was a longbow just like mine.

Good way to pass the time while healing up. Don’t over do it.

Great looking little bow Jerry. Those river cane arrows need some natural turkey feathers on them.

Actually running very low on feathers, trying to get a selfbow set up for a young father of 3. The guy is a hard working man, one of his kids spends a lot of time in the children's hospital. I offered to set him up and show him the ropes and he got pretty excited. He is very quiet and modest. He also lives in the very wooded area of central eastern Oklahoma near the state line, so lots of hunting opportunities.
