I made a bow for my son. I have noticed a hairline crack in the limb. The bow is Osage. 20# @ 20”. Any thoughts on how to fix it? Thanks.

I'd cut it up and make a new one, for anyone, let alone my child. If I tried to fix it and it broke and he got hurt I'd never forgive myself.

If it was relegated to the middle area of the limb I'd say, fill it with thin viscosity super glue and keep shooting it, but I don't like how it's running off the edge of the limb. That's not good.

I wouldn't keep shooting such a bow myself, let alone let my kid shoot it. Better safe than sorry. Just my $.02

I have to agree with Jeff. It’s not good when they run off the edge like that.

Doesn't look good at all, running off the side like that. >>>-----> Ken

I agree totally with Jeff. Not worth the risk. I’d make him a new one

Thank you for your replies. This is the second bow I have attempted. That’s why I am asking. Trying to learn. Thanks again.

You're welcome. Wish you better luck on the next one. Sometimes things happen beyond our control with these bows. Often we can make accommodations and save them, but sometimes we're better off just reaching for another stave. I always liked character bows and trying to make good bows with the most challenging staves and it didn't always work out, so yeah, I've burned a few of them myself :^( Good luck.

Can that be saved by wrapping in wet rawhide and then allowed to dry?
