So I finally got my Black Hunter 40# longbow limbs last night late. Tried them on the BH riser this morning and I love them. It is hard to believe that a cheap Chinese made bow like this can be so good but it is. I shot it inside first then took it outside. Do believe that it is also quieter than the recurve. This bow is quite the bargain for the price. I was making a riser just for the longbow but now may just keep using the BH riser. It shoots very well for me, in fact, better than another bow that cost a lot more. I still may use the other riser but not right now. The stupid thing fits me very well and I like that. Jerry

I have both and like you I prefer the longbow. It has a great grip, very smooth, hits where I’m looking, plenty fast and whisper quiet. What more could you ask for? Well maybe clear glass and something other than the charcoal riser .

I bought a Black Hunter longbow for my daughter last Christmas. Tonight I have to set it up for her with a good string. What brace height is recommended?

It's only cheap relative to what it costs, not to it's build. Chinese bows have been competitive in Olympic archery for decades now, and the Korean bows are top notch as well.

William, start off with 8" and adjust from there for the set up.

They are great at copying others ideas. As long as they use good material they make a great product. The Black Hunter seems to be an excellent bow. >>>----> Ken

It is not rocket science. Most bow making is about aesthetics.

Sometimes unless you have access to a good archery shop, it is hard to find something that actually fits you and shoots great.

This bow is for me, very smooth to draw and puts the arrows pretty much right where I want them. Everyone is built differently and with the various differences in everything like hand size and arm length etc, we all have different needs or wants. I have several bows that I shoot good but don't scream "shoot and hunt with me...a lot." That's why we really kick ourselves when we do something stupid like sell or trade off a bow that is like that.

When you find one that just truly fits you in all of the important areas, it is a joy to shoot and you know that you can count on it when the time really counts. Yes, I still have some tweaking to do, like a lot better string, brace height and nock adjustment. But already like it is, wish that I had got one several years ago.

The nice thing is that I have the option to step up a little in poundage and yet still have the same bow as long as I keep the limbs that I now have. I once had a bow that I loved but it was clearly over bowed for me. For me, it is a win win.

I shoot my Black Hunter longbows at 6 1/2-7” with a 12 strand Stilldub B-55 string.

The set of limbs 2Bears shortened for me really shoots, it is 56” now.

I sent Ken 25# limbs which actually weighed 28#. He cut off 2” from the end of each limb, then installed new limb tips and the bow weighed 36/37#. So then I had him reduce the limbs to 32.5# and it is tillered for split finger at 3/16” positive top limb.
