I looking to buy a dozen 11/32 cedar arrows, already fletched with four feathers with field points.

What price would I expect to pay?

From: Andy Man
Date: 14-Nov-22

Better sit down

$100.00++

From: George D. Stout
Date: 14-Nov-22

Cost of goods, plus labor, plus shipping. Even if you make your own, you'll likely have near $80.00 in a dozen if you honestly figure all the 'gozintos'.

From: fdp
Date: 14-Nov-22

Yep...right around $100.00 if you get good ones.

Good arrows are expensive again. Just like the in the good old days.

Where can I get them for $100 a dozen?

From: Bigdog 21
Date: 14-Nov-22

130.00 are more with shipping tax . Hunt 98 I with you I would like to know hunter shafts 105.00 plus shipping best deal I found.

Wapiti and 3Rivers both have them for right around $100.00.

They've been right around that price for a while now.

If you're looking for quality custom arrows, expect to pay $140 plus shipping with field points installed. Prices for everything has increased the last couple of years. Shafts, feathers, paint, finish, points, and shipping have gone UP quite a bit.

From: M60gunner

Big reason more guys are making their own arrows from shaft making to finish product. Shipping alone for arrow size packages has gotten out of hand. Then off course we pay extra because it’s a “men’s sport and hobby”. That’s worth at least 10% of the cost.

George had a good summary of costs. Even watching for sales and good deals, you can hit $60 just for shafts and four-fletch materials. But keeping it in perspective of everything else in the world and pricing, as well as increased wages both coming and going, a matched set of good wooden arrows is the same price as me filling up my truck with gas. Guess which I enjoy more?!!

I've bought 2 sets of 3 Rivers "Hunter" arrows. Simple but good, not terrible expensive. Good shootable arrows.

If you don't have all the equipment to cut, fletch, taper your Owen arrows. And don't plan on using alot of them then it will be cheaper to buy a dozen made up.

From: George D. Stout

Yankee, I agree that the 3Rivers Hunter arrows work just fine. I used them quite a bit back when I had my Bear takedown and they shot as good for me as ones I made myself.

Whipperwil archery.com 100 a dozen

Forgot they are self nock reinforced. Real nice arrows

They have gotten expensive- remember this, YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Don’t learn the hard way and hire the lowest bidder. You will come out ahead if you put forth the initial investment in tools, learn the craft, and build your own.

Any where from 100 to 175 dollars a dozen.

From: B.T.

You certainly get what you pay for with wood arrows. I bought a beautiful dozen crested, spliced fletch and field points. They were a pretty "good deal" until I shot them all. I have 7 good arrows, not great but good. I have 4 fancy judo/blunt arrows and 1 fancy tomato stake or launch one for someone, somewhere, someday. I would have been much better off paying the cost from a quality arrowsmith.

You can buy Hunter Grade Douglas Fir shafts from Surewood for $39.00 a dozen, and Select/Hunter Grade POC from Wapiti for $36.99 a dozen. And like Sawtooth said, start with these quality components and you can put together arrows that will rival any one's when it comes to consistency.

Anyone who thinks salaries are improving coming and going is nuts, try living on retirement and social security like many of us do. Eventually I look to be priced out of the sport at the rate it is going. I have and do make all my on arrows but at this rate just for material I don't know for how much longer, guess I can always go back to wild shoot shafts and chicken feathers.

From: cut it out
Date: 14-Nov-22

Those will be a bit more also being you want 4 fletch. That’s a dozen more feathers for your set. Just something to add into price.

Related but maybe I should have put this on the What do you remember ?

A friend an I bought 500 shafts from Acme for $250 in the late 80s. I still have some.

i still have a few dozen cedar shafts i bought off an old bowhunter a few years ago @ .75 a shaft, i bought 400 off of him. perfect shafts and i made and still making great hunting arrows from them.

I would recommend Steve Savage of Surewood Shaftss . His shafts are fir and not cedar. But he makes an excellent set of arrows for less than a hundred dollars. Fir is slightly heavier than cedar.

It’s not uncomfortable quality built arrows to run $150-$200 a dozen.

If you plan to shoot wood arrows a lot, learning to built them yourself is a must unless you have deep pockets.

Sawtooth (Original) X2.

I've been building my own wood (mostly cedar) arrows since 1988. I even build my own aluminum arrows. It's a great pass time and I enjoy it.

I watch all the on-line sporting goods stores I shop for free shipping this time of year. Lancaster ran free shipping last week and 18 Rose City Premium POC just barely made the minimum of $59. I threw in some of the free nocks they offer and consider it a good deal.

I expect to be priced out, like Deni says above, but I stockpile when I can to delay it. My problem with arrows has been predicting what shaft I can continue to shoot.

Wow $100+ for made up shaft guess when you put all that work into them seems right. I build the arrows up myself going to give building the shaft a try after I retire in January 2023.

Man,have times changed, when I started hunting in the sixties, you could get a dz.ceader's for less than half the price of aluminum and glass shafts.
