I received a Plains Hunter Longbow from Eric at Hitman Archery today.

I've shot a lot of longbows in my time, too many to remember, but this bow is smooth as silk, quiet and shoits stable.

Labeled 45 lbs but is actually 44 lbs@28". 62 inches long. Reminds me of the Martin Savannah Longbow. Comes with an endless loop D97 string, it's a decent string. I did put a Ten Rings flemish twist Mercury string on it. The grip is on the small side but the way its shaped it really don't seem to bother me. Gonna add a leather wrap to the grip.

We all know shooting bows is subjective to the individual archer but this bow shoots better than a lot of high dollar longbows I've owned or shot. $280 shipped.

I can't get over how smooth this bow is. S far as performance goes, it's no slouch. The grip is on the small side for me, but I will add a leather wrap and add a little thickness.

Just a pleasant bow to shoot.

Steve, I hadn't measured the riser but I'm sure it's at least 19", fade out to fade out. Greg at 3D archery has a review of it on youtube..he may mention the riser length, I don't recall.

I'm at work but I will measure it this evening

I’ve bought 2 used Savannahs this year and agree it does look similar. I’d like to try one.

Looks like they copied the Savannah..I had a Savannah about 12 years ago. Good bows

I would buy another Savannah if'n I had a choice. they are awesome bows. Only had one for less than a year but shot well with it and took a good buck as well. One of those "shoulda kept it" things. :)

Wish I would've kept my Savannah too George. Lot of bows I wish I had kept. Plan on keepin this Plains Hunter

I forgot to mention...I draw most longbows 27 to 27 1/2 inches. This bow I'm around 27 1/2 to 27 3/4. So smooth. I intentionally drawed it past 29", no stacking.

It's a fine looking bow, Clay, and I'm sure it will be a keeper too.

Added a leather wrap to the grip. Just right.

Nice job on the leather grip. I see this bow is on the big auction site now. Why did you decide to sell it?

From: TGbow
Date: 07-Dec-22

Nothing wrong with the bow at all. I've been really wanting a reverse handle string follow longbow for a while so I decided to sell the Plains Hunter to help fund the string follow. I've owned just about every type of longbow and recurve thru the years but I've never owned a string follow.

I still recommend the Plains Hunter longbow. I've pretty much quit listing bows on classifieds due to the scammers now days.
