Here is what you can expect from Dark timbers for pricing and options:

spines of 340,400,500,600,700,800 all in my own custom wood grain pattern. 340-600 are a standard 5/16" shaft that takes a .244 insert 700-800 is a .234 inside diameter and will take 9/32 points.

Weights are similar to other wood grain shafts. The finish is more durable and shouldn't wear.. you can even use acetone to remove the labels if you like without fear of removing the wood grain. All shafts are 32 7/8" long from throat of nock to bop.

You will be able to order 6 at a time or more of course. You will have your choice of nock colors at no extra charge. We will also be offering test kits.

Included in the price will also be your choice of aluminum standard inserts or brass weighted inserts! .. .you can have both for an additional $8.99 per dz.

Price for one dozen of the Dark Timbers including choice of nocks and choice of inserts ... $69.99

Dark timbers are made in KOREA.. not China FYI for those that will ask. They are made by a very reputable company who makes shafts for one of the top 3 arrow manufacturers.

I'm really NOT trying to be a pain in the backside here but....your own website in bold print says to never use acetone on the shafts.

All that said, thank you for bring another shaft option to market.

I ordered 2 dozen today.

The website is being or has been updated to reflect the new dark timbers. The never use acetone statement was old and in our haste to list them, updating the safety literature was initially forgotten. I'm sure we will find other discrepancies as well.. such as shipping calculations. With all the new shipping charges and restrictions, we are struggling to keep up. If you are charged more for shipping than the actual cost, the difference will be refunded. Thanks, BigJIm

Please be patient with us as we handle all of your orders. We are extremely understaffed and are experiencing unprecedented sales! If that wasn't bad enough, my office managers father had a stroke yesterday and may not survive.. I haven't heard from Bridget to see how her father is doing, but I expect she will miss a couple days. I will be out for a couple days as well with hip replacement... not that I'm much help in the office.

I see far too many emails stating the people are calling but can't get through and aren't receiving return calls or emails. It is frustrating but we are working to remmedy the problem. I was notified my order shipped today.

Received my shafts today. Perfectly cut to length and they spin very straight. They are very dark compared to Gold Tip or Heritage. Graphics are done very well, not large and obnoxious. Can’t wait to get them fletched and try them out. Thanks to Big Jim and staff.

I have been cleaning off the outside of the shafts with Windex.. it works really well and can be done inside without worry of odor. Acetone or alcohol also works but is 10 times the price and odiferous. Anything could be used.. or possibly nothing but I haven't tried that. Shipping is too expensive for me to risk not cleaning the outside before putting on wraps or feathers.

I prefer using bohning fletchtite platinum as well. The glue is a little thicker and won't run as bad and also won't have the white flashing between the feathers.

I am invested deeply in these shafts and was unwilling to pull the trigger on just anything. I am very pleased with them and for good reason. They other company that they build for has always had some of the most consistent shafts in the industry and it shows in the Dark timbers as well.

Do gold tip nocks and brass inserts fit the 500 spine?

Kanati, the factory Gold Tip inserts won't fit.. nocks would be extra tight and you might run risk of splitting the shaft on a hard hit with nocks that tight. Brass inserts that aren't made by gold tip, but advertised as for gold tip will work. They were made as a .244 and sort of a fit all. Thanks, Bigjim

Ordered me and my wife some and got them yesterday. I really like them. I just got through shooting and they are nice arrows. I will probably be order more very soon.

I just ordered a dozen arrows this afternoon to try out. Maybe its a small detail, but I really like the color.

I bought some 600s and liked them so I bought some 700s. They are nice shafts at a good price.

Mine order is at the post office now. I'll pick 'em up tomorrow.

Big Jim, I read in your first post that its 69.99 with choice of nocks and choice of inserts but when I go to your site, it looks like it cost extra for the brass inserts. Is the price higher for the brass inserts or is it like I think I am reading in your first post above.

I guess bottom line is: Can I purchase one doz with brass 100gr inserts for the 69.99 as I think I am reading in your post about 3 lines up from the bottom of your post? I don't want the aluminum inserts and I will install them myself.

Lastmohecken I will have to double check the website, but I'm nearly certain that what you are seeing is an option to buy the brass inserts and also receive the aluminum inserts as well.

So unless something has changed.. and it shouldn't have, that's the deal. I've not heard of this issue before. BigJim

Whats the best nock to use?

Kanati, the 340-600 come with Bohning nocks. The 700-800s come with nocks from a different company. The I.D. of the 340-600 is .244 and will accept nocks from many different companies. I know of no other companies making one to fit the 700-800s.

Just for anybody that's wondering, I usually do my own cresting and fletching, but won't have time in the next few weeks and wanted to get some finished arrows ready for a Christmas gift. I ordered premade arrows from Big Jim.

They shipped on the 8th and were in my post office on the 13th.

And they are well done. I'm very pleased with them.

Just placed my order. Been looking forward to trying these.
