I'm looking at the black hunter recurve but I'm seeing prices range from 67 dollars to 120 for what looks like the bow is there any difference in the bow based on the price.jerseyman

Yes, there is. There are many makers of this bow design, some are very poor. If you buy the cheapest version you are rolling the dice on what you will get with not much recourse if you are unhappy with it. Buying from the better makers like Junxing, Mandarin Duck, or going thru American dealers like BigJims, Twig, Lancaster is much safer. It will cost a few dollars more but if there is a problem, you will get help with it.

I completely agree with that. I got ours from Twig.

Junxing made the original Black Hunter but you cannot buy from them as they only sell products through vendors. You can buy a Black Hunter from numerous vendors here and in China. SinoArt, Mandarin Duck, Obert, LinkBoy, all sell directly either on Amazon here in the states, or through Aliexpress.com from China.

For the most part there is no difference in quality between buying from China or from an American vendor if you're buying the original product. Thee are some manufacturers in China that have made knock-offs with inferior riser material. The original Black Hunter was from a dymondwood-like material - laminated wood.

But there are big risks in buying from China. If your bow is damaged in shipment or is not the marked weight it is cost prohibitive to return it. You may get a partial refund. That said, you can buy from a Chinese vendor that has set up an Amazon site and have the protection of Amazon's return policy.

The safest bet is to buy from an American vendor as mentioned above - Lancaster, Big Jims, Twig Archery, Hitman Archery. They will check the bow over before sending it to you and will offer a guarantee.

There are at least two versions of Black Hunters. The original - Mark 1 - has limbs that are not interchangeable top to bottom or left to right. The Mark 2 limbs have square limb butts and will fit right or left hand archers. Junxing only shows Mark 1 limbs on their website. Also most of the original risers are some shade of gray with some being offered in Blue and Red. There are newer risers available - most with Mark 2 limbs - that have different colors In the attached photo is an "Orange" riser I bought from a Chinese vendor - Linkboy Outdoor Sports - alongsisde a SinoArt riser I bought on Amazon.
