Gold Tip 500s fit a 2117

Centershot 600s fit a 2016

What’s in between??

2114’s I use on GT trad 500’s.

Well, that’s correct with regard to spine ;)

But it seems like the Centershots and the Legacy carbons are a little bit undersized for a 2117 footing and they appear to be about exactly the same outside diameter as a 2016. Centershot 600s slide right into a 2016.

I’m just about to start cutting on some 500s, but I would cut to a different length if I were going to use an aluminum footing with the corresponding aluminum RPS insert. When I do that I lop off an extra three-quarters of an inch…

And now it has been so long since I shot aluminum without a footing, I feel kind of naked that way! Lol

Easy to figure out. measure the O.D. of the aluminum, the last two numbers in the Aluminum size i.e. 2016 (.016) is the wall thickness, so 2x the wall minus the O.D. equals the I.D. then find a aluminum that has the I.D. you need.

Well, yeah, if you happen to have a micrometer lying around…. LOL

One of those great tools to have.

I just haven’t had much luck getting footings to stay put except when the fit is pretty darn precise right out o’ the chute. Seems like the GT woodgrain wrap job is Just Right for a 2117, but usually the black, “unfinished” carbons are just a hair undersized, and I’ve had poor results trying to fill the gap with CA gels and with Gorilla Glue….

Maybe it’s my technique?

If the footing is just "a hair" oversize and you have original Gorilla Glue, coat the carbon with a thin layer and let dry. Then proceed with applying the footing as normal; the initial thin layer is usually enough to tighten up the fit. If too thick, lightly sand that initial layer until fit is perfect and glue up.

So no water the first time?

I should probably look at my shaft prep as well…

Sorry I was thinking backwards. Being there is no 2119 you’re next step would be like 2219 but now the increase in shaft diameter will defeat that option if I am thinking correctly. I wonder if the Gorilla glue would work because it expands? Then would it hold up to a hard hit? Anyway if you want to try the 2219 I can send you some pieces.

50 grain inserts 3-4 inches long.

You have a, .280, .284, .286,.288 I.D. with 2016, 2014,2013,2012 what size do you need. Never mind there is the whole chart-----no math >>>----> Ken

Corax,

I never use water with Gorilla Glue.

I do what snow crow does. I use 600's and 2013 footing. Zero issues.

That’s a pretty useful chart there, Dan!

Keeper for sure. Also explains very neatly why Jazz/Tribute shafting is on the XX16 standard.

Guess I’ll try some waterless GG and if that doesn’t do the trick, I’ll check into a mic at Harbor Freight or something….
