I can't say about his bows but a lot of fellas use FF strings on their self bows. I use FF strings on my self bows and so far no problems.

Decide what you would gain by using it, and what you would lose by not using and decide if the difference matters.

Amen Frank. If I had one of Ed's bows I would want to take the best care of it I could. There won't be any more.

Send Mike Yancey at Pine Hollow Archery a message and ask him. He and Ed made bows together for quite some time and I'm sure he would know.

Linen bow strings were used on self bows before dacron and fiberglass bows. Linen did not stretch. FF is a brand name. There are choices of different low stretch strings- some have more give than others.

You just have to ask yourself if you want to risk putting one on a work of art to gain a few fps.

Yeah, I don't think a few feet per second gain is worth the risk....Thanks for all the different perspectives.

I have an Owl with a FF. I think they make less noise. I second Mike Yancey. I also have one of his bows that came with FF. We have talked about them several times and I shoot FF off the bows I build. Call Mike. AA
