After several stave failures, I thought that I better go back to basics and start over. This is from an oak board from the "Depot".
It is my first bend through the handle bow. 64" ntn, and 38#@26".

After 100 or so arrows it has taken a little set.

Oak is not much fun to work with and I won't build another. Maple is a better candidate(finer wood grain). The grain was good in this one.

I glued up some leather to build up the grip and then attached the black leather over some rests I put on. Sort of dual shelf.

Anyways it has held together and shoots all right. The backing is a stretchy nylon material. I will paint the back to fancy it up a little bit later.
Thanks for watching.

Also my apologies to Tecum-tha for poo pooing his notion of rough tillering with a belt sander.
I tried that method, thinking nothing ventured nothing learned. It works okay for a flat bellied board bow but would not try it on a stave.
All good,
