I was looking at Jeffers thread and it got me to thinking about some of the great self bows I've seen over the years. One of the bows I always wanted was one of Ed Scotts Owl bows.

They were such works of art. Any of you have one of his bows? Pics!

I have a bow I can't shoot worth a hoot, but not one of Ed's beauties.

BigJimarchery has one for sale on his used bow page. Be sitting down when you look it up

That is an awesome looking bow, even if it is left handed. I think Ed would be amazed to see his bows priced like they are now.

It's not a self bow however.

Not the best pics,, 60" 48lbs, sinew/snakeskin backed Osage, Beaver grip. Sinew backed bows are very finicky to weather conditions, humidity in particular. It was a nice bow, just moved on to something else as was the case years ago.

I thought about having him make a Horn bow but the cost was way out of my range. We talked quite a bit during the build and I felt fortunate to meet him at Compton the summer after he made this bow. Had a great talk. I enjoyed the art work he did on his bows.

Sure it is Runner, he made it himself.

considering inflation and 2022 bow prices, thats not a bad price for his creation. Truely a work of art.

I'm surprised there aren't more guys with them out there.
