After several years, I've finally gotten around to getting some nice wood arrows to go with the beautiful Osage selfbow Brad Smith made for me.

I don't know why it's taken me so long but I'm so happy I finally did. Brad made the bow 50# at my draw length.

Of course, when the arrows arrived here by mail today I couldn't wait to shoot so even though I'm still not able to walk on my ankle, I had Lucy bring the argo up to the house so I could get out there and try it out.

I'm not gonna lie because the first couple of groups I shot were all over the map. Well, mostly far left and low telling me the arrows might be a little stiff. Then I remembered what I leared about 5 years ago when I first tried the bow out, that these selfbows with wooden arrows have a personality all their own which who ever is shooting them, has to learn. It's not a mechanical endeavor, but more like an impending love affair. At this point I think I just got to second base with her but am hoping to go all the way taking a nice Tom with her in May. The last few groups I shot, she seemed to settle down when I started to get a nice feel for her. But as the last photo will show, there's always that one arrow. Haha!

I was shooting at 17 yards. Will got me a range finder for xmas a couple of years ago. Not gonna lie, it's pretty cool to have and use for this kind of thing.

They can be challenging but the satisfaction level is off the chart. Good luck with the Gobblers

Best of luck with that beautiful selfbow. Nothing better than a well made selfbow and Brad Smith sure knows how to build a great bow.

Glad you got her out again Jeff. I remember when Brad said he was sending you a selfbow.

Their all I’ve ever shot. I kinda have a thing for them.

Best of luck Jeffer. Not only is Brad a fine bowyer, he's a very fine painter also. I'll have to look for his website to his studio to post here.
