I used to have a Bear Kodiak Magnum. I had it since I was a teen. But it was sold on me during my 06/07' deployment. I miss it, and I'm thinking of ordering another. Can anyone tell me if the grip is similar to a Black Widows standard grip? Thank!

I've owned nine different KMags made from 1961-1976.
Every grip was different because whoever formed the grip by hand was different.
If you're ordering a new one from Bear, the very best of luck to you...

Ya the grips varied from year to year. 1966 they had a "palm swell" type grip on all models, which I really dislike.

Thanks, I had a 76. And I shot it well at the time. I didn't realize the grip changed so much over the years.

The grips on Bears bows are very inconsistent in recent years.
It kind of makes sense though. There is more hand work there then any where else on the bow and everyone has a different idea of how they should feel.

There seems to be no shortage of the old ones for sale. Check out Ebay and find a nice older model. I agree with SB on the 66 Kodiaks altogether, all had palm swells that to me were very uncomfortable. Some folks love them though, so there is that. It's kinda why I keep saying "you have to shoot it before you buy it". Even a 76 like you had could be different.

Thanks guys! That's how I feel. I don't want to buy one just to find out I don't like the grip. I'll have to see if I can test shoot one somewhere. Damn ex and her family. Get wounded once and they figure you're not gonna make it home, so they sell your stuff. Well I've also been looking at the Striker bows too, so maybe I'll find something there.

Over the years I have owned three of them. Though the grips were slightly different I considered them high wrist grip bows, but it never bothered me to shoot them.
