I finally had a few days off and the weather was good so I made the 10 hour drive to my Oklahoma camp. I hung my sets Saturday after a bit of scouting. Acorns still falling and the deer are on their feet. Sunday morning I picked out a doe that I hoped for a shot but the little bucks kept moving my target. Finally at 8:30 she stood long enough to give me the shot I wanted. 50 yards later she was done. To be continued:

Monday morning brought a crisp cool day with light wind. Approaching full moon so I was expecting more mid-day activity. I was in my saddle in an old spot spot that has brought me luck in the past. By 8 I had not even seen a doe so I decided to make some noise and jingled my antlers a bit. Nothing. 15 minutes later I tried again and added a single wheeze. Seconds later I hear a buck thrashing an oak sapling. The dry leaves made an incredible racket. Finally I could see him at 50 yards. In a second he was facing me at 17 yards. A large limb parallel to the ground had me completely blocked. I hooked my right foot under my step and leaned over for a shot. I am almost parallel with the limb with the only shot is under the limb. Finally he turned and gave me a shot. My arrow zipped through him and all was quiet. I was shaking so hard I struggled to get upright again. After a half hour I followed him up a short distance of 65 yards. He died on the run.

By the way the buck had 10 points on his left and 12 on his right. I have no idea as to how to follow this up. Maybe the Good Lord will continue to smile on me.

Fantastic animal & making do with a tough shot. Buck & doe on the same trip topped off with the picture on the hoof. You got it going on. >>>>-----> Ken
