I'm torn on whether or not to shoot this buck. I know if I don't, the neighbors will as soon as the bang stick season starts. He's been hanging around here at the home place for a week now, but no daylight pictures. I need some good daylight pictures to make up my mind, plus he'll have to show in the daylight when I'm there to give it a go. We'll see.

I haven't killed a deer in many years.
Not because I couldn't have. Just because I really don't like to shoot doe around here, and I haven't seen a buck that tripped my trigger.
I've decided to shoot a doe this season, and this buck has my interest even though I've seen, and had chances at bigger for the past few years.
I take it out on the pigs. :-D

I do not consider nice antlers as a valid reason to decide to NOT shoot.
Sounds like he’s pretty cagey anyway…
On the other hand… as a matter of karma…. don’t you owe somebody a Herd Bull??
ROFLMAO, but Just Sayin’….

I've always felt you just know if you're gonna let an arrow fly when he steps out. Something insider says, "shooter"! And you just know. That's a great deer. Bets of luck! Tom

That would be a great buck for most trad archers.
But standards change depending on where you hunt, how many nice bucks are available and how many big bucks you have killed and personell motivation.
Sounds like a buck you would like to to get another year or 2 up in age.But the odds may be slim that he gets another year or 2 to be a really mature speciman.Roll of the dice thier.
Maybe you chain him up on your home place during gun season.
Whatever you decide it will be the right decision.

Sometimes it depends on the time and place and the set-up for the shot on that particular day. But that is a nice deer. The death-adder might have to eat…

Rick; can’t worry about what the neighbors do or don’t do. If you are content putting your tag on him then that’s good enough reason. Don’t think I would need daylight pics to know he would be in trouble.

Hi Rick, I would shoot him. He looks to have good mass (hard to tell in those nighttime pics). We aren’t getting any younger and just the fact that you are hunting him makes the season a blast, whether you tag him or not. Good luck and God bless!
