What do you all think about a magnus stinger broadhead

From: Therifleman
Date: 16-Sep-21

I've killed a pile of deer with them. Easy to sharpen and I've always had great flight ( even when a buddy's bow was less than tuned they flew well). The stainless is nice as I've yet to have one rust. I think they still have an amazing lifetime warranty too.

I’ve used the Stinger 125gr 2 blade for years now. I love them. They come sharp, hold an edge good, and easy to resharpen if needed. Have never had any flight issues since I’ve started using them. Plus they do have a lifetime warranty. I have bent a few tips on rocks, but have never had any other structural damage to them. I just flatten the tips out and use hem for small game heads. I have never felt it was Magnus’ warranty issue, even though I’ve been told they would replace them. The only reason I would consider looking for different broadhead for my use would be if I could not get them anymore, or they raised the price to a ridiculous price.

Awesome!!

They shoot great for me.I've taken several whitetails with them.

I like that head, it’s what I recommend when guys use a threaded broadhead. I haven’t used one in years now but I was actually playing w my only bow set up non cedar arrows just tonight. Quiver still full of stingers. Great head imo

Any Magnus head is great!

From: charley

That's a good broadhead.I think it's priced really good. I shot a half dozen turkey with the buzzcut version. 100% recovery. I shot three white tail bucks with four blade, switched to single beval Grizzlies. The stingers left a better blood trail, and I had those Grizzlies crazy sharp.

I have several female and young compound shooters using light weight equipment hunting elk with them. I have gotten nothing but great reviews from people. I guess I’m the slow bow guy the locals come to for setting up arrows that will get maximum penetration at low poundage:-)))

I shoot 150 grain stingers.Bottom line great head and not as pricey as some.

From: Boker
Date: 16-Sep-21

I have the 125 and 150

Agree they fly great and come razor shape. you can use replacement blades if you wish too.

Only complaint is they have been hard for me to find.

I’d like to see them offer a stringer in a 200gr weight just to give a few more options for guys wanting to build high FOC arrows.

Lifetime guarantee

Boker, just pop in a 50gr insert. The stingers go right back to razor sharp easily with a few swipes on a rada also. Easily my favorite bh.

From: Boker
Date: 17-Sep-21

I am running a 100gr now, 18% Foc with the 150 Magnus.

That’s plenty of foc but I’d like to test 20-25%

From: SJP51

I've not found a good way to get the tip sharp. I understand the reason for the angled tip, but it makes the Stinger less effective if that tip is not sharp, too.

What can I use to make the broadhead fit flush with the arrow

From: SJP51

3Rivers sells aluminum collars that form a nice taper from the 5/16" BH to smaller shaft. No idea how to pick which one. Have to call them.

I like them. I have used them for several years.

Been shooting them for almost 20 years. No complaints!! Best warranty out there.

I would buy them if I used screw-in heads.

Pretty much the only head I shoot!

From: MattG
Date: 17-Sep-21

like 'em a lot!! i agree with the comment on the 200 grain version. i plan this year to use a brass insert to get my total front end wt up to what it needs while use the 150's. if they had a 200 grain i could just go that route. best mg

Great heads, me and my dad have shot them out of compounds for years. Always have good blood trails, as far as sharpening the tip goes I would recommend picking up a stay sharp guide. You can sharpen the tip and rear blade with it as well. Was a good investment

I just shot a 161 lbs mule doe gutted at 35 yards. My point on, 25 inch draw 42 lb stalker wolverine fxt with 500 grain arrow with everything magus 2 blade buzzcurt. Through the heart, broke the offside shoulder. Love those heads.

Man what a snoot that hog has!

From: GF

That is one big, scary looking pig!

The only thing I don’t like about the Stinger is that they are hazardous to my fingers in a catquiver.

Otherwise, great flight and crazy sharp. Gotta be plenty strong for tradbows, given the build, and especially if we’re talking lighter poundage here.

Magnus makes my favorite heads. I haven’t shot any of the Magnus heads that didn’t perform great. Love the Magnus Stingers ! Going to try out the Magnus Black Hornets this year as well.

Why would you think it's not a decent head in the first place? Just curious since they've been around a while and have a following.

As for the "flies good" thing, that is a tuning issue anyway and not necessarily related to a certain broadhead. They all will fly good. Hard to beat a design that has been proven literally for hundreds....even thousands of years.

From: Don
Date: 21-Sep-21

Agree on the tuning part George, but some Broadheads are definitely better balanced, and spin better. I’m impressed with the stingers so far.

I've killed a lot of deer with Stingers and the Snuffer SS. Great heads and great people. Bang one up....just mail it to them and they'll replace it without hesitation. Hard to beat that! Oh, and they're not $99 for 3 heads either. ??

From: Therifleman
Date: 22-Sep-21

As for the "tuning thing"---don't think that there is anyone on this thread that needs to be told that tuning for good broadhead flight is a must. My point was that, because of form and release nuances, some can achieve a better arrow tune than others. And as many of us know, some broadheads are very forgiving of minor tuning issues while some are not. The Stingers have always flown well for friends whose tune was less than perfect while they didn't have the same results with other broadheads. I believe Don pointed this out also.

From: GF
Date: 22-Sep-21

There are two aspects to good flight: they have to spin true, and they have to be tuned properly.

Both are necessary. Only one of those is under the control of the manufacturer.

Nice to know that Magnus has done their part. Honestly, if I wanted a pre- sharpened screw-in head, I would need a darn good excuse to look any further. But of course, the slash I put into my draw-hand index finger is a pretty darn good excuse!

I think sharpened trailing edges and I are just not a Thing that is meant to be…
