To identify Red Wing Hunter bow serial numbers, look for a hand-inscribed number on one of the limbs, along with the bow's length and pull weight, which often starts with "R-2" for AMF Wing bows, and "RW" or "RA" for earlier models. Here's a more detailed breakdown: Location: The serial number is usually found as a hand-inscribed number on one of the limbs, alongside the bow's length and draw weight.
AMF Wing Bows: If the serial number starts with "R-2-xxxx", it indicates an AMF Wing bow, likely made around 1969.
Early Red Wing Models: If the serial number starts with "RW", it likely indicates a model from 1965-1967, while "RA" suggests a model from 1967-1969.

And if it starts with R, it's early Wing pre 1964. There's also a difference in the way the belly glass sweeps over the palm swell on the riser, but I'd have to see a pic to really tell the exact year from this detail. The tips are also a good indication of year made and the riser wood used.

These are all New Wing Hunter tips. Early Wings had tiny tips. They got clunkier through the years.
