Nice that there appears to be no mange…. Did you take a shot? Looks plenty close!

No one has yet, but posts here about Coyotes often evoke following ones about them being death and destruction for all manner of game species. If so, it's amazing that I've seen them from California to Massachusetts along with healthy populations of all manner of game from small to large.

Many misconceptions about coyotes.

But here on the Wall, you don’t see the blind hatred so often expressed on the Bowsite side of things; the way a lot of those guys talk, you’d infer that they would use Napalm & strychnine, given the chance…

I liked Larry’s approach — he said he had a pair of rodent-eaters on his ranch which he would never bother, but the days of any calf or chicken-killers that wandered onto his place were numbered. What the resident pair didn’t run off, he’d deal with directly…

I don’t hunt where livestock figure into the equation, so I don’t need to know who’s who; given a good opportunity on a healthy specimen, I’d be quick to take the opportunity, because a coyote with a stickbow is a respectable “trophy” in my book. I don’t feel a compulsion to wipe them out, but they’re not exactly a vanishing species…. And I would love to have a few hides to tan up…

I had one kill my Jack Russel Terrier, I don't much care for them.

Looks like he’s headed to the feeder. I was surprised the first time I was in South Texas pig and javie hunting 25 years ago to have one come trotting in and start crunching down corn like dog chow. I should have shot him but I was more interested in the pigs. They are survivors for sure. I have an over abundance around here at home now. My neighbor likes to call them at night and I keep after him to thin em out.

Would it be ethical to kill a “trophy” coyote, at or near a corn feeder? FWIW, I certainly wouldn’t have an issue with it.

Only matters if you want to get your name in the P&Y book, and I don’t think they care about coyotes…

They are bad around here, I shot this deer and 40 minutes later after tracking her found that coyotes beat me to her.

[[[ "Man he looks nearly as big as a lot of the deer. >>>-----> Ken" ]]]

Yeah Ken, these yotes are big & healthy. This guy is almost as big as that yote. :-)

Yotes don't get a pass from me if they give me an opportunity.

They play heck on our deer, turkey, and quail.

I'd have a lot better attitude toward them if they went after the pigs, but that is seldom the case.

They are terrified of the pigs. Occasionally they will go after a piglet, but seldom get away with it. I've seen whole sounders on a single coyote a couple of times. Yotes didn't stand a chance if it let them corner him up. Only chance is to "Run Wile E Run".

I would like to see that buck have another year, but it would not get a pass from me if it was legal time, season, & O.K. with the landowner. Very nice Texas buck. With the length of those tines it is probably better than my personal best with a bow. >>>----> Ken

Wile E had rather go after the road runner than mess with a sounder of pigs. >>>-----> Ken

Ken, he'll get another year. That picture is from this morning right before sunrise.

I shoot all the coyotes I see. 2Bears lets see a pic of that personal best deer kill.

From: Corax_latrans

Guess I’ll just add that (unlike Larry) I don’t have any specific reason NOT to take a shot at a coyote if I should have one in range…. I just don’t harbor any animosity toward them. They have a place, even where they’re a substitute for the Wolf.

Ours look like that in July. They're really thick now. That would be an unhealthy critter in my neck of the woods.

Jimmy I forget if you like pictures or you of the persuasion no picture it didn't happen.I seldom ever took pictures. Don't own a cell. I am hard of hearing. What few pictures I did take were not digital. Plus I was never a fan of bloody pictures. Friends took a few for me & sent them to me. I am going to say that is an honest request & see what I may have on file. Here is one not the best but in the top 10.

Coyote #s fluctuate depending on the health of their ecosystem.High#s generally mean high #s of prey species.I doubt coyote #s affect deer #s directly in the long term.I take them or leave them depending on the situation. He gets waved off if I have a turkey gobbling.

Thanks guys. Kind of glad I didn't spend more time looking for pictures. Looks like Jimmyjumpup didn't come back. I have never been much on kill pictures. Since you guys enjoyed them maybe I should share more. Almost any field picture of me was taken by a hunting buddy who sent me a copy.

I need computer tips on how to put regular photos in the computer & how to file them. I have been on several Colorado, Wyoming, Oregon, & Washington hunts but didn't notice pictures of any in computer. Oh! wait that bear was from Oregon but picture taken here in my den. 43 @ 28" Howatt Super D Bear razor head. >>>>------> Ken

Really good pictures 2 bears, very nice. I had a chicken that met it's end this past weekend while I was out bowhunting one last time for this season. Im thinking it may have been a yote given the one track I was able to find. I staked the dead bird down and placed 2 #3 coilsprings in front of it. We'll see what happens in the next couple days.
