Anyone tried these? Single or 3 layer, 3 under or split. Just looking for opinions and experience. The plastic is waterproof, and they are ambidextrous. I suppose for $8 I will add one of the single layer models to my next Lancaster order and give it a try.

I've tried the plastic version and experienced no problems. I keep one in my pack in case I lose my leather one.
They are very slick and may take some time getting use to.

I've used one for years.
Waterproof for the rain here in Vancouver.
3 layers, work good for me as I have damaged my index finger on my left shooting hand.

All I used for many years.
Quit using them when they changed the material.
This newer material isn't near as slick as the old, and kinda rubbery feeling.
Still very good tabs. Just not what I want from one.

I know a guy who is a good shooter and uses those. He stitched 2 together for a thicker tab.

I have never used the kits. I did just modify the all plastic ones with heavy leather, and it was my preferred model for a long time. But today I prefer to make my own. I came to realize the can't pinch feature is unnecessary (though it is easy to 3D print, if one wants it). I have different tabs for different features. Also when the kids came through, I needed different sizes constantly.
I did try to make my own plastic tab, just for those occasions when it makes sense. Not a good experience. :) The material I used was so slippery it was dangerous. It wasn't that I couldn't safely hold the string, but as I relaxed into the shot, the string left so much sooner, due to the low friction of the material I used, that deflected hard into my face. Live and learn.

Get the Pak-Tab so you can have thickness choices, the single layer is not very comfortable

I purchased a second Pak-Tab a few months ago. My first is at least thirty years old but in good shape as I mostly shot heavy gloves. I wanted to try tabs again for my new lighter bow. The newer Saunders tab's shooting surface is a different material from the old. Both are very good but I prefer the old. Also, the new tabs finger spacer separates from its holding studs slightly when shooting. The fix was to add serving thread to the spacer holes. The tab is water proof, thickness adjustable for comfort and easy to get use to.

Great tabs. All I have used for the past 30 years or so. I get the Pak-Tab so I can build the thickness I want. Very durable and nothing changes from hot weather to cold weather, they remain pliable.

I'll second Rick's assessment. I used one for over 30yrs before the material finally split. Got one made of the newer material that only lasted a fraction of that. I used both for the base of modified tabs. The one on the right is the older one. One on the left is the newer material and even the finger loop hinge failed on that one after being modified.

I have used the Saunders Fab Tab for decades. I tried other types of tabs (I never cared for gloves) and always came back to these.
I use the slick outer tab, the felt tab backing, and then I cut a thin piece of leather to size for the final backing against my fingers. I also open up the split a bit.
This is how John Morris of Rocky Mountain Recurves always set them up and I bought my first Saunders tab from him. If the day comes when I am shooting 50 lbs. or less, I may drop the leather backing for something else (something thinner).
Based on the comments above about the tab material change, I am happy I bought a couple of extra packages of them about 15 years ago (I was afraid they might stop making them). As stated above, the original outer material was very durable and slick.
