Anyone customize or rework a sage riser?

I have reworked several including my Southwest Archery Spyder.i have a hand sander I use for reworking the grip or smoothing out the riser.

There’s probably enough wood there, but go slow….

What’s your Goal here??

I've done several. There is a lot of wood on them that is totally unnecessary. I round the back of the grip, put a knife edge on the sight window front and back, and round over the ends of the riser along with any other sharp edges. Then I stipple the grip and refinish.

Maybe try and radius riser and maybe get it to center shot.

Yes I agree. Very blocky. The grip feels much better now. I know George Stout had no problem with breaking out a rasp to make a bow fit him better:)

A little work on those risers looks like a nice upgrade.

Making a factory riser fit you and actually feel good.....custom stuff. Why not? Just take your time, can make a huge difference.

I think that a major reason why Asbell started making bows was his displeasure with Factory grips and shelves…

I have yet to muster the nerve to alter a bow that I can shoot as well as I think I can shoot, and I have yet to find a bow that I can’t work with, without re-working it….

But the Sage risers are made of good enough Stuff that it seems a viable option, and they’re cheap enough that if you were to really screw up, you could probably forgive yourself.

I guess Down South, that’d make them Juust Right….

I did one. Turned out OK, Bought another ,and left it stock, and gave the pair to my grandson's. I used the limbs on the first one with a Black Bear riser, and ordered a new set of limbs for the other riser. Best buy on the market penny for penny as an all around rig.
