Big Jim’s has a Stalker for sale.

I know it seen that but I need a 30 inch draw at 40 lbs. I'm just curious if it is a good bow. I have all black widows but I can't pay the price for them anymore

Stalker is descended from Brackenbury. South Cox has improved an already legendary design. With your 30" draw, a 62" recurve should make you happy. I don't think you'll loose anything going to Stalker. In my experience, it's be more than a slight gain. I'm on a road trip, so I can't show pics of mine.

Stalkers are really good bows but they are not cheaper than Widows Ghost

That's good to know. I just want to make sure I'm making the right decision. I'm going to call them tomorrow

I have a stalker and really like it It is a 60in wolverine with acs limbs. 47lb@28 I have a 31.5 draw and have no problem shooting g it in fact it almost has a spot that feels like it has let off has I’m drawing. It may be the aggressive recurve that it has. I get between 185-200 fps depending on how heavy an arrow I am shooting. I’m thinking about selling it because I have gotten a shrew and really like that right now.

The “right” decision depends on who YOU are, more than what bow you get.

We are incredibly fortunate these days that we can get an entirely satisfactory shooter for the slimmest budget…. or you can go nuts. It really only gets complicated once you start trying to check off too many boxes or if (like me) you’re trying to reach the pinnacle of performance. And if you have a 30” DL, you don’t have much to worry about.

So if you want a pretty bow, get yourself a pretty one. If you want a rocket-launcher, you can get an adequate riser with some supercurve limbs.

all makes perfect sense. Thanks

Stalkers are awesome and South is amazing, very meticulous and down-to-earth. Would highly recommend his bows.

I have two Stalkers and wouldn’t own anything else. South is an awesome person. He is always willing to help with questions or problems. Today’s hunting world would be a better place if more people had the ethics of South Cox.

I have a Stalker 19" ILF Riser. Its fantastic.

It takes any of the thousands of ILF limbs in various lengths- including longbow limbs. I run mine with Uukha or Nika long limbs.

I wish I could post pics on this site....it's a beauty. It's super stiff- no flex with the G 10 insert embedded inside- you don't know it's there until you remove a limb.

Mine is a combo of Cocobolo and Black ebony. It's a little bit heavier than my laminated wood risers but not as heavy as the Trad tech aluminum riser. I think it's the perfect weight.

I had a minor issue with mine, South sent me a shipping label and had it fixed lickety split- great customer service.

No negatives except long wait times......and the ACS limbs I've owned for many years are over rated.

I have a Stalker Jackal SL 3 piece takedown. 58" 40#@28" and it is my smoothest pulling bow and my bow of choice to hunt and 3D shoot with. And I won it!

My brother has a 19” riser from South. It’s way heavier than I would like to carry all day, because it’s just one big hunk of nice walnut — I dunno if he spec’d an upgrade; grain is nice, but nothing too fancy. Finish is just Nice. Probably a satin?

Brother RH-ed a brand new, $20 arrow during his initial set-up/tuning session at RMSG…. LOL.

If I lived close enough to RMSG, I’d work a deal with them just to save time & frustration.

South must be pretty busy, ‘cuz I have had an email in to him for at least a week now…

I have a Stalker Coyote 3 pc hybrid, 64" and 44@30" and it is one smooth shooter. I have killed 3 deer with it but last year bought a 64" BW plx and shot that one most of last year. If I had to choose one it would be the Stalker.

I have two STalker bows, a Wolverine 62" 46@27" with reflex/deflex and recurve limbs (recurve limbs 47lbs) and a Coyote recurve 64# 43@27. I have ACS longbow limbs for the Coyote on order. I really like these bows. As many have said, when you call the shop, South almost always answers and is great to work with. His bows are beautiful and shoot well. He has a great selection of beautiful woods and always willing to work with you. I know there are many good bowyers but I don't think you could go wrong buying a bow from South. (Besides, I really enjoy his trad bow hunting videos!)

I have one of Souths AH bows with ACS limbs.

55@28 64amo

One of the smoothest drawing bows I have had. Beautiful builds as well, but the performance of the bow is top of the line.

This bow will stay with me for the long haul.

For the gentleman above who said hes waiting on an email, give South a call. I had the same problem. His email server stacks emails weird and hes missed several of mine, but a quick phone call and he was able to look them up and answer my questions.

I went to his shop in Co in august to get this bow. Stellar guy who makes a stellar bow.

Always better to call, he has never failed to pick up when I have called him.

From: Corax_latrans

Yeah, I’m rarely offended when I don’t get a response to an email. I kind of subscribe to the Old School Rules: If it’s important, pick up the phone; if it’s urgent, walk on over; if it’s an emergency, call flippin’ 911. What do I look like, The Marines??

I’ve worked with too many people who send emails about every damn thing, always expecting an immediate response… which means EVERYTHING is a Drop Everything Emergency… which means NOTHING is an emergency. And then they wonder why things that are actually important get through the cracks…..

That stuff will kill you.

From: talltines

His emails are short, but phone calls are informative and much better format to answer questions and get a bow built. Never had a bad experience with the guy.

Matter of fact, when I showed up to shoot some bows, it was 9 days before his deer opener. He took an hour out of a busy schedule to string up 20 different bows for me and talk to me about what I wanted. I know he was busy, and I was trying to rush to make a decision but he was as nice as could be and never made me feel like I was bothering him.

Give him a ring.
