So my search for a short longbow is taking me towards a 56" storm with a G 10 riser. I don't know if I have ever seen a storm on the classifieds so that is probably a good thing. Any info on them or pictures would be great. I shoot a 27" draw and 40 pounds.

This is my son's Storm, it's a excellent bow with JT craftsmanship. They are very quick and shootable.

Is that a good 10 riser or micarta maybe?

That is diamond wood. Here's one with burlap miacarta it's a JT but not the storm.

I had an opportunity to test drive one of his bows once. It was smooth, quick, and dead in the hand. He does a very nice job with unique materials and his bows shoot as good as they look.

none much better than John's work....I had one of his Zeus bows.

I seen his web site says if he has a bow in stock he may send it for a test drive. I will probably go that route, I have only had 3 traditional bows but each one feels different and spending a good chunk of money for something I never shot is tough for me to do

John was passing through our state visiting family a couple of years ago, and we'd been sharing emails on his bows. He packed several in his car and stopped in at my house and we shot in the back yard for an hour or so, visited another hour... a good guy.

Just send John a deposit on a 2P storm. Man- he's sure nice to deal with. Walks you around the new bow elephant as many times as you want to get to the right place. If that storm is anything like his Apollo - I'm in for a treat! What a bow...

I had a JT Storm, 56” 41# at 27” until fairly recently. It was (I think) curly Mozambique riser, carbon fiber backed limbs and a nice looking action wood on belly. Absolutely one of the best bows I’ve owned. I honestly say it’s in the same league as a Toelke Pika or Thunderchild, in my humble opinion. I also had an Apollo recently which was just as nice. His fit and finish is about the best I’ve seen, and the bows shoot incredibly well. I never had any problems tuning them either.

That’s my old Storm that I sold you….shouldn’t have sold that one! Regretted it immediately. I agree, every bit in the same league as a Toelke or a Thunderchild. John’s grips are some of the best out there and that storm was ridiculously fast and smooth drawing!

The Appolo 2 in 58" probably my favorite hunting bow.

I like that burlap micarta riser, it’s unique.

Man, that makes 2 of us! I definitely regret it but got pulled into a trade on a JT Apollo and I should have just stuck with the storm probably. I plan on ordering one from John that is in the specs I’m looking for. I draw 29” so that one was just a tad heavier than I prefer for short bows. I did run that bow through a chronograph, not that it’s a big deal for traditional equipment but it was quicker than those other bows mentioned.
