Yes, that's corn where I emptied my deer feeder on the last day of the season. It' legal on private land in N.C., so don't get your undies in a wad! But definitely not in turkey season.

When you said pet turkey I thought of a barnyard turkey. A guy I used to work with had a single gobbler as a pet and when his kids left the basketball out the gobbler would spend hours trying to mount it!

Here is oldogrib’s original text to go with his photo.
I shared a post about her in a thread awhile back and forgot I had a picture. I was clearing a patch for a mini plot of "Thro & Gro" a couple years ago. I had drug most of the leaves and stuff away with a "homemade aerator/tiller" made with a stout palate and spikes pulled behind my 4-wheeler. I was doing final clearing with a leaf rake and every time I'd stop to catch my breath, I could hear scratching for a few seconds behind me. And it was getting closer. I looked and there was my hen friend about 15 ft. behind me. She looked just thrilled to have found someone to do the "heavy lifting" to where all she had to do was enjoy a buffet of bugs! I was her hero, but if I took a step toward her, she'd take three steps back. She followed me around for about thirty minutes. Never saw her again. I wouldn't recommend it as a hunting strategy, but it worked like a charm that one time, lol!

After all the work I'd done it did hurt my feelings just a bit that she wouldn't let me get close enough to take a "selfie" with her!

I know in some settings they are smart and hard to hunt but around here they're like barnyard chickens. I guess I have lots of pet's.

HA that's somethin'. Keeps the bugs down for ya. Looks like some youngsters there also. Is that year 'round or just certain times of the year?

They are usually here from March till as late as December. When the snow piles up they move down toward the river bottoms where theres less snow and better food. They nest around here so we have lots of young all summer.

They aren't all that smart Or hard to hunt. I had just shot one, its laying there, and they all scattered bt came back and milled around until I walked toward them. Must be they came back for the funeral.
