So my search for a shorter recurve has led me to either the 54" nomad or 56" wasp. I shoot 27" and around 40 pounds and this bow will be for hunting out of a blind for whitetails. For those who have shot them any preference between the 2? Looking for quietness, smoothness, and speed.

Love my Wasp. It’s the first one out for deer season. ><> del

Both are great bows but for the blind shorter is usually better ; Nomad .

But longer is usually smoother…. ;)

I’m gonna guess this is an exercise in hair-splitting… So personally, I would be more concerned with the condition of the individual bow.

Are they pretty close to the weights written on the riser?

I have both same poundage the nomad is the clear winner.

The Wasp for all three reasons.

Shot both. Wasp would be my pick

I am going Wasp, like the 56" qualities.

Have both, both shoot great. The Nomad has no issue with a 28"+ draw. I do think the Nomad is slightly quicker.

Tough choice. Both are good shooting bows. My Wasp is one of the quietest recurves I’ve shot. Either should work fine.

Both good bows. The one that fits you best, and you shoot most accurate is the one to go with. I have owned both, and only got rid of the wasp, because it got to heavy for me.

Great bows, at your draw length the Nomad is awesome. I only sold mine because I was afraid I’d break it drawing past 29”. Beautiful little bow and I shot it well.

Thanks for all the responses....looks like it's too close to call

I have a 46# @28" Browning Wasp and it REALLY throws an arrow when I pull it to my 29- 1/2" draw length. Some year I will hunt with it . . . but haven't so far. I have to use a felt spacer tab because it does pinch a bit.

Maybe so, maybeso not, but only You can make it….. ;)

But you can Date a bow; don’t have to Marry them all….

I have had both. Sold the Wasp. Just couldn’t shoot it worth a hoot.

I prefer the Explorer over either of those 2.

The wasp is on my list to try someday. If you can find a 56" bear polar they are real shooters. I like mine alot. preforms very well at a 27" draw.

I don't have any experience with the wasp. I do have a #55 nomad that i draw to 27". it has been my go to this season. one spot in particular is ground blind only with no issues.

Maybe another cost effective option would be to get a taller blind. I shoot my 64" bows comfortably out of 80" tall blinds.

The Nomad was my first bow back in '69. fine shooting bow but if I could do it all over, would have bought the Safari. A notch above both bows mentioned here.

They are both fine shooting bows and it comes down to personal preference. I lean towards the Wasp. This whole post makes me miss George Stout. He would have had something pertinent to say.

Well I picked up a nomad so we will see if I made the right choice...thanks to all who chimed in

What should the brace heigth be? I'm reading anywhere from 6 1/2 to 8 1/2....that's a pretty big range

mine tends to ride better on the lower end for me

I will start around 7 and see what I get into...thanks

I have both and they're both great bows but the Wasp gets the nod by a hair just because I like the straight limbed design...resembles a Howatt Saber or Howard Gamemaster.

Here's a picture of a group at 30 metres with my Wasp...that's impressive for a shorter bow. If you do your part it will deliver...

I have my Nomad set at 7-3/8"
