Hi Everyone, I have an older bow that I want to re-grip. When I removed the previous leather and strike plate, there is all this old what I assume to be barge cement left caked on there. Any ideas on how I can remove with without scratching up the bow? I'd rather not have to refinish the whole bow. I realize any scratches I leave will be covered up with the new grip but I would still like to keep the current finish it has as nice as possible. Thanks! Meat

90% isopropyl alcohol, or a damp rampened rag with acetone should take it right off. Then wipe with a clean wet rag.

90% under a paper towel and let it soak for a bit. Or 3M adhesive remover, the same way if you have some, or a buddy in a bodyshop. JF BMB

I've used a blow dryer to warm it up and rubbed briskly with a coarse rag or the suede side of a piece of leather.

Excellent ideas! I wrapped a rag damp with the 90% Isopropyl and let it set for about 5 min. That softened up the cement where I could just wipe it off with another rag with goo gone adhesive remover. turned out great!
Thanks everyone!
