A few years ago I purchased a hand muff and it revolutionized my hunting experience. I haven’t worn a single pair of gloves since. And a couple of years ago I bought a tree umbrella. Best $20 I ever spent. What is the best thing you recently added to your repertoire lately?

A Waldron pac seat, too, a couple of years ago, but most recently a new style and old style haversacks from 3 Rivers. I hunt mostly with a back quiver and have to forego my day pack. Their new haversack carries a bunch a stuff and hangs well. It really allows me to carry too much gear and I end up paring it down as the days go on. But that extra fleece pullover was a godsend on a couple of chilly mornings. And they have molly pouches you can purchase to attach or run separate for your phone and a larger one for miscellaneous gear like first aid, fire, paracord, and all those other small, but sometimes necessary items in a handy place.

Most recent to me is over 15 years ago, when I purchased a woolen long shirt from Fred Asbell. It comes down past my waist by nearly a foot. I tuck it down into my bibs, and my lower back is completely covered and warm. With my Raven Wear vest, I am toasty, with no places for the wind to creep in with a chill.

i always carried and used binoculars but after last year's elk hunt, decided i need to find something better.

i narrowed down my choices and tried a few brands. i settled on the vortex razor hd in 10x50. i really like them and at 27 ounces they do not weigh more than most 10x42's. with a good harness they are easy to carry.

more recently i purchased reusable game bags from argali that were on sale. i really like them. they are light and pack small.

I'd have to say either my 64" Palmer and my Mystery Ranch Day pack. Having both a bow that's comfortable to shoot and a pack that actually fits feels pretty luxurious.

Oh almost forgot “The portable” bow rack/ gear hanger for both inside. The tent ,cabin,or even you man cave corner if wife allows” Cost $30.00 at local big box store . I know several folks who liked the idea and went out and bought one for their bows, quivers and haversacks to hang on . Not to mention to your cloths which it was intended for . I even took mine outside while shouting to hang my bow on while going back and forth to my target.

Haven't used it hunting yet, but I can see my Pacseat being pretty nifty when I'm on the ground. Which will probably be 90% of the time I get to hunt.

“dozen Dark Timbers to shoot from my 35# longbow. Been shooting 2016's forever ”

If you were trying to shoot 2016s from #35. I’ll bet!!! Hope you got whatever Jim recommended.

Among “recent” purchases, I have only bought new WOOL base layers; nothing comes close. LY, I bought a Big Agnes tent which weighs about 40% of what my old North Face tent does, and my Thermarest Neo pad has an awful lot to recommend it…

Oh, and my Mountain Muffler Mercury 2 strings. I had to re-tune around them. They are that much faster than whatever “FF” I had been shooting before… It’s like free poundage.

And also, my new EFA bow quiver. I am now a believer in bow quivers and I could never stand them before…

Longer term, though… One of the best purchases I have EVER made is a pair of waterproof/breathable gaiters. They keep me dry from the knees down and provide a dry place to sit or stand any time I need a break, or need to shed/add a layer. One of the best pieces of non-lethal Kit I own….
