Hello all, does anyone happen to know what size aluminium shaft would fit on Big Jims Dark Timber shafts 600 spine? They measure .290. I am thinking that I might have found a match for my Gold Tip trad. 600 ,a 2117? Any info is much appreciated. Tom

ID 2114 = .300 ID 2117 = .294 Probably the 2114 will leave enough space for glue

TC ? Maybe an e-mail or phone call to BIG JIM, "might" be the best solution to the question?? YMMV

Thanks Steve, I just now learned what the numbers mean, ie 2114 2117 and so on.

My original 600 dark timber are .287 out side and an aluminum 2117 has some wiggle room over the shaft.

If I did it right there’s a copy of my aluminum arrow fitting chart in this thread.

My 600 Easton Legacy are footed with the discontinued 2115. I have a few full length left. Never measured just trial and error for me. Really have to work the adhesive to get good coverage between foot and carbon. Otherwise foot will fail and shaft will mushroom and collapse/or break.

Believe it or not, Goop (basically clear silicone calk) works really well to hold the aluminum footing to the carbon once it sets up. Just make sure there is a good smear between the aluminum and carbon shaft. DANNY

Personally, I’ve found 2117s to be the right fit for GT Trad and (usually) Black Eagle Vintage 500s. I don’t have a fit for 400 spines, but 2219s fit Legacy Carbon 340s and whatever BEV is right in that range…

SOME 600s will foot for me with 20XX, but mostly that’s the old Centershots.

I don’t think anyone has the info on this down any better than Dan…

Not the 2219s! It's bad enough the Xbow guys chop em up. Now the single string community? Id be more then happy to scoop up some swaged nock 2219s :)

2113 to 2117 are all the same inside diameter They all take the same insert.

I was contacted and told the arrows I mention do not have the same inside diameter. I was going by the factory Tage for the inserts.

Someone shared this on here a long time ago and I use it primarily for what you are doing - figuring out footers!

I think that’s Dan’s work.

2113-2117 cannot possibly be the same ID unless they’re not the same OD, so the common insert has always puzzled me a bit…. Maybe they’re just too close for it to make any difference?

"Goop (basically clear silicone calk) works really well to hold the aluminum footing to the carbon once it sets up"

Hmmm, that is interesting... Thanks for sharing...

Yeah that's my chart. Thanks, I forgot to post it when I was on the computer.

Common insert size is an Easton thing. For whatever reason they didn't make inserts for each of those sizes and decided one size fits all. Which may be fine for inserts, but not as footings or splices.

There is one weird size. I know it's in the 2315/2317 range. Mathmatically the one should be larger than the other, but it never is in reality. I can't figure out what Easton did on that one size.

Well thanks to all who responded. I now have all the info and multiple offers for the shafts I need, man this is a great place! Tom
