What is the difference in the Black Hunter bow models? I bought the Black Hunter Elite off Big Jim’s bows, and then I noticed there’s a Black Hunter bow on Amazon, but it’s cheaper. Big Jim is sold out of the risers now on the Black Hunter Elite, and I have a buddy who wants to pick up a Black Hunter as his first traditional bow. I just want to make sure I get set up with the best model of the Black Hunter. Thank you, everyone.

I believe the Elite has a black wave thru the riser. Most bh” s are a charcoal grey riser. Other colors are also available. Two limbs, recurve & longbow are made. Some limbs have maple cores and others have bamboo. Original limbs had asymmetrical limb butts and now there are also square butts being sold. Some list asymmetrical versions as MK1 and square butt as MK2. Big Jim’s is one US company selling his version. Lancaster has the Galaxy Embers. Twig Archery has some also. Many , many listings on Amazon. Some riser / limb connections are one bolt ,one alignment pin and others have an additional pin. Amazon also sells other bows with the same look as bh’s but not labeled as such. Top Archery has 2 that looks like the Elite and another with tan limbs and riser. I own several of these bows and if you would like pictures I can send you some. If you have questions just ask and I try to answer. Forgot to add most are 60” but I’ve seen 58” also.

The Black Hunter Elite is a Deerseeker Mesa. They're more pleasing to the eye than others and cost a bit more.

The only difference in most is some have limb butts cut straight, others are tapered.

Big Jims Elite here. Got it for rehab. Very Nice bow but no longer need this one. It is in the classifieds.

If I were going to buy one I'd get it from Big Jim's.

I doubt there is a best model. IMO they are likely all the same. I bought five recurves from two different companies two Christmas ago. All look identical. Limbs totally interchange. Lay one riser on top the other, EXACTLY the same. Likely the same Chinese bow manufacturer. Just a different logo.

Have fun. Good luck.

I agree wit Bob. It appears that they use the same CNC pattern on all the risers.

I have also noticed some have maple limbs and some have bamboo.

Well is a Deerseeker Mesa a different bow altogether?

My Daughter and I have been on the China topic lately and looking in to how the factories work over there. One thing I've noticed is that they do huge production runs of the same item. I found some photos on Top Archery's website that show a few shots of the warehouse and assembly line areas. Not a place I want to work, but they are definitely efficient.

Here's a photo showing two Black Hunter Elite recurves' the top two bows are the Black Hunter Elites and shoot very well, with good speed, and the risers are cut to center. The one negative is that they are heavy, which makes them stable to shoot.I really think they are a lot of bow for the money.
