Hello everyone, a buddy and I are tossing around the idea of bear hunting in the next couple of ears. Does anybody have any experience with a guide who caters to traditional bow hunters? I've heard and read that some don't really want trad hunters in camp and think that we may wound too many bears. I am interested in someone that sets stands at 10-15 yards instead of 20+ yards. Thanks

Manitoba Stickflingers. I’ve hunted there three times. Great guides and they will set you up perfectly. Each year I have gone I have had over twenty bear at my baits. Actually could have shot any of them.
Maybe I was lucky but each year I’ve had a chance at a 7ft class bear. My last bear squared just shy of 7ft. And made the the Pope and Young Record book.
None better in my opinion.

What Gary said. You can't beat Stickflingers. Ryan runs a great camp with very experienced guides... Everything about it is top notch. I'm headed back in 26.

You talking out of state, in state or out of country? In state run your own baits and set your own stands.
I live in Michigan and when I draw a bear tag I run my own baits and set my own stands. Might sound crazy but I enjoy setting my baits. The last year I hunted in Michigan my son, cousin and myself shot 3 bear in 4 days from our own bait setting. My 2 personal stands were set at 7 or 8 yards from the bait.

I second Squapan Mountain Outfitters in Maine. Tony Boucher runs a great camp.
There is a tremendous appeal to Canada, on my bucket list, yet have had too many US hunt opportunities first.
Try 'em all!

Thanks for everyone's input, I appreciate it. Is it just me or do Bear's get very little attention on this site?

Stickflingers....it's all you need to know for stick bow bear hunting. Going in the spring for my 4th trip. Would go every year if I could. Had a buddy go to Squapan then went with us to Stickflingers...said no comparison. He's going back to Stickflingers next year!

I have hunted with friends (and made some great new friends as well) at Bear Creek Outfitters also.
It’s a very nice camp and Dusty is great guy to deal with. I had a friend who was going to hunt with me one year. He made the deposit but then had a medical emergency in his family and had to cancel. The following year Dusty agreed to honor the previous years deposit and we made the trip. Furthermore, my friends son-in-law was coming back from a year in Afghanistan and asked if he could join us at the last minute. Dusty was very accommodating and made a spot available for him.
Plenty of bear and my two friends both took home their first bear. I wasn’t as lucky but that is hunting. I will say I saw more bear in Manitoba, but Bear Creek Outfitters was a little more affordable as well. Also, fishing is available if you tag out early.

I’m kinda surprised no one has mentioned Ryk Vischer. Great guy to deal with and when I moose hunted with him, the guides talked about how great the spring bear hunting was in his camp. Never been there, just heard the stories. Thanks John

Resized photo and reposted text for Aspirinbuster.
Call Chris and Danny Dyer in New Brunswick, Canada. Lawrence Dyer and sons. Tell them what you need and that I sent you.
My parents hunted with them for over 20 seasons. Great family camp. Good people and big bear.
This was my mom with her 20th Bear at age 72. That’s Nugent w her - Pop took the photo. That bear was probably 15 yards and traveled less than 25 yards after the shot. 38# compound.
