Very nice. I have made lots of red oak board bows. I like backing them with bamboo. It keeps them from developing a lot of set.

Looking good, a great start to the beginning of an awesome journey. Build a few more to learn from, this really helps if you plan to go to a stave. Far better to break a red oak bow as you learn than an expensive stave. Would love to see the tiller like others do, the bug bite can be long term, leading to wood shavings galore LOL. You did a great job with the backing, it looks great as well

It is 2” at fades and .75 at grooves. The limbs are .500 at fades and .412 at grooves. .455 @ mid limb. Coming from manufacturing, I tend to use calipers to build everything. Just shot it. 148 through crono. Glass reflex deflex same arrow and poundage shoots 160.

Very nice work, better than my attempt at a hickory bow. It was going good for me till a hinge appeared. I tried to work it out, but it cracked at that spot while shooting. Fun project and I did get to shoot it a bit. My next try is to do a tri-lam bow. Have to wait till retirement in a couple years though.

I used raw hide on mine (deer skin) and it didn't help with taking a set, only heat did that.
Nice job, mine is super smooth, hope yours is also.
Good luck with it.
