This past weekend I got to take my dad out to a good friend's private ranch. Low fence but definitely managed harvest. Typically this ranch, near Sonora TX is very dry most of the year. This past weekend it was down right soggy over the whole ranch. Blessed late rain storms have brought green life to a lot of the ranch seemingly overnight. The first evening I blew the shot on a successful stock on a group of doe. The buck was one of many we encountered over the weekend.

We did see a few doe with late season fawns still tagging along. Surprised though as the rut was in full swing and LOTS of chasing was being done.

The final afternoon I was able to get this pig. The Broadhead was wedged in the lager bone right at the point of the shoulder. We have done a lot of work on this ranch over the course of the last couple years, but the biggest contribution was the water well and almost two miles of black poly pipe taking water to 5 different water troughs. Since then the hunting has gotten much better and the wildlife, as a whole, are more healthy.

Thanks for reading the weekend recap, and hope everyone is safe out there.

I have lots of memories of hunting down around Sonora. I can't say that it has ever disappointed.

Jeff I would absolutely be lying if I did not say that was tempting. We saw several nice bucks this past weekend, and a large percentage were most certainly in range, but they were not on the menu, so to speak. Thanks everyone. Good trip and a good time with my dad.
