Just thought I'd share a picture of home for the next few days. Doesn't get much better than this.

Probably a little warmer in Mississippi than up here in Pennsylvania. :) Looks relaxing.

I have my 12'6" yurt that I built from scratch set up behind our house. Woodstove, chairs, cot, table, lantern. Hot tent camp. Clean and quiet. Grandsons and granddaughter are gonna remember times in that yurt very fondly.

what's not to like? We set up a tent out back for the younger grandkids to camp out in. Even set up a pop up blind for them to "hunt" out of, they love it.

I like it. Want some company? Probably not. I wouldn't either :)

Enjoy the solitude and peace.

Reminds me I have to get my Durston set up and tested. Maybe a hog hunt is in order.

Had an exciting, if unproductive evening.

About 500 yd from camp, as the crow flies, this doe came in and fed 10 yards behind me for 20 minutes or so. About a half hour later, two young bucks, 3 and 6 point, fed under the same tree. Tried to get a shot on the 3 point with a cow horn on one side, but he got suspicious and I didn't wanna bust this stand location, so I didn't try to force it. About 20 minutes before dark, another spike came trotting through well out of range.

Also, some of the biggest squirrels I've ever seen hang out here.

Looks mighty nice, how about sound though? I have no peace and quiet where I hunt anymore. Between the grain dryers running, farmers harvesting, and highway traffic and trains, silence is a blessing unattainable.

@JusPassin

This is an 820 acre plot of timber company land, situated about a mile off a rural highway that only gets local traffic. There's a paved road that runs just to the west and a gravel road along the south side. Not much road noise. You'll hear the occasional dog barking or car pass by in the distance where we're camped. We're in the farthest back portion of the property.

There's a logging crew working a few miles away, but it's easily drowned out when the wind picks up and the birds get going in the morning.

Nights have been pretty silent, save for my tinnitus, and the nightly chorus of owl hoots and coyotes.

Swirling winds and warm temps this morning. Sat for a little while, but eventually wound up walking around looking for scrapes and other sign. Squirrels were out and about, but were being difficult, so no bounty today.

Historically the rut doesn't kick off in this area until a couple weeks into December. I've found a few early scrapes so far, but they aren't being used regularly yet.

Severe weather tonight, so I'll be back home snuggled up with the Mrs.

Back at it. Brought my hanger in and set up behind the ladder stand that I was in last weekend. If you look closely, you can probably see it. I'm maybe 15 feet up.

Wind is swirling, as usual. Nothing but woodpeckers so far...not even squirrels moving. But, it's still early.

I think I made a bit too much noise setting up my hang-on stand. Had half a dozen deer skirt the hardwoods to my right and circle around me at 60ish yards. I only caught glimpses of them as they passed. Then, just before last shooting light, my wife called because she was on her way home and had a flat.

Nearly 2.5 months of deer season left. I'll let it calm down for a few days and slip back in quietly. There are some MONSTER acorns falling within 20 yards of this stand.
