There's an excellent 3 video series on youtube from a gentleman called Jeff Roberts .... he gives an excellent explanation on every step of the construction process. just search Jeff Roberts Bamboo arrows and it'll come up.
. Also there's an excellent booklet from a genuine authority on the subject Jaap Koppendrayer on How to make bamboo arrows ... well worth the money.

I also put a 2"bamboo skewer piece in each end to beef it up. I self nock one end and use a stone point on the other end and I need a more solid shaft to do that. I mentioned that on here on another thread and was all but told I was nuts and didn't need to do that. Glad to see someone else thinks it should be done. Either way it don;t hurt anything.

I have read a lot & watched a lot of videos. I kind of adopted this & that from each one. I ended up a lot like Jeff. Bamboo skewers, sorting by spine, bare shafting & sharpening broadheads. I don't match the weights like he does. I might put a little lighter point on a heavy one or a little heavier point on a light one. They shoot as well as any other shafts & as good as I can shoot out to 20 yards. I would try matching the weight but don't have room to shoot any farther. Love bamboo for self bows & longbows. >>>-----> Ken

I made a dozen for a friend of mine that took them to Africa to hunt. Same guy I made the Hickory arrows for. I also used bamboo skewers to reinforce the point end. I got wood nocks from 3 Rivers . Can’t recall what BH but I do know he shot a couple critters with them. I was worried about the weight from arrow to arrow but he said they all flew fine. I did smooth down the nodes and made sure there was at least 3” of bamboo between node and ends of shaft.

Like others have said, I also use bamboo kebab skewers to reinforce my bamboo shafts, plus I'll use skewers of different lengths to help match the weights of the shafts.

If you decide to give Bamboo arrows a try I would suggest you buy the shafts from a reputable dealer.
