Sept. 15 through 17, 2023. This is a mixed shoot but lots of traditional shooters attend as well. Awesome place as well, great chicken BBQ on Saturday, and just folks having fun. Here's a bit of a glimpse.
It's because the deer travels about 70 yards and turns around, showing the other side on the return trip. :))))) They don't shoot at each other up there.
Interesting moving target they have there. All I've seen before were moving targets that were manually pulled. Awesome idea they got there.Do they have a broadhead course anywhere at this shoot.
TTT this is going to be the place to be this Fri. Sat. Sun. One of the biggest Archery events held.....and right here in PA.
The atmosphere can not be put into words, you have to experience it to get the full impact!
Lots of targets down on the flat ground and three different courses on the side of the hill.
Known for there infamous "running deer" target, they also have some other very unique targets.....running boar, flying ducks, pop ups, speed clay pigeon shoot, etc.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner available with a BBQ chicken dinner on Sat. that is worth the trip in itself.
More people than a good county fair all getting together with a like interest makes for a really special time to say the least.
Equipment is "anything goes" but there is a longbow/recurve competition Sat. for men and women.
All kinds of archery items for sale and much more. Happening this weekend!
As in the past, my wife and I will get up there around 2pm Saturday; visit the vendors, pick up some goodies, and then enjoy BBQ chicken platter, which is excellent. Not like it used to be but still a fun time. Been doing this for 50 years.
Is this the same shoot that has been going on for many years there ? Seems like I remember reading about this one in the old Archery World magazine back in the late sixties or eary seventies. Looks like a real good one for sure.
I only made it up for Saturday, but the weather was just about perfect. Crisp at the start of the day's trad competition, by the time we came off the mountain to shoot the running deer, it was high 60s. Just can't beat a gorgeous day shooting with great people.
I was also there when John Schulz did his seminar. That's been a while ago. I was within 30 miles this year but didn't go over; had a bout all week with S-1 and S-2 issues so hung out at and around our rental cabin all week. Timing is just wonderful at times, hopefully will get things back in order over the next two weeks until bow season. And yes, John Schulz passed away.
George, sorry to hear your trip was messed up by health issues. I didn't go over this year, either. Seems mountain climbing is not part of re-habbing my torn achilles tendon repair, lol.
Also, I sent you a PM yesterday. Wondering if you received it. Take care of yourself and enjoy the rest of your day.
