Get past the 2 ads and omg. I am probably late to the game but I can't even imagine how this is done, even if it took a hundred takes to make the shots look easy

[[[ "I am probably late to the game but I can't even imagine how this is done, even if it took a hundred takes to make the shots look easy." ]]]

I only have two things to say:

(1) Makes for really cool video, that I enjoy watching.

(2) That boy has lot, and "LOTS" of time on his hands to get some of those shot done successfully. :-)

Rick

Lots of time or not, or even if it took him a few tries to make them shots that is dang impressive.

From: DaGunz
Date: 24-May-23

This is truly amazing. Wonder how many arrows he lost practicing? Makes me think of Asprinbuster and Jeffer.

From: Bob Rowlands

Awesome!! Thanks for the link.

From: Supernaut

James Jean is amazing, reminds me of Byron Ferguson.

He is absolutely the best ever. There don't seem to be anything he can't hit. Only one explanation he is an alien. >>>>------> Ken

From: reddogge

He is insanely talented. Does anyone know him personally?

From: Jim Davis
Date: 24-May-23

Now, tell me he uses the arrow as an aiming reference. (Where are you Papa Bull----?)

From: Babysaph Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 24-May-23

Real impressive . Come on Rick you can do it with all that fancy shooting you do.

From: old fudd
Date: 24-May-23

HOLY CRAP!! Can't believe what I just seen. This guy is UN REAL WOW!!

From: ottertails
Date: 24-May-23

I've seen his previous videos where his shooting was just flat out amazing. This latest video of this young dude shows he has upped his game to unbelievable. Takes a whole lotta dedication, practice and super talent to do what he does.

One in a million.

From: Jimmyjumpup Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

That is the best shooter I ever saw. Behind the back and all. I wonder if he is string walking?

From: Jimmyjumpup Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

I think it is his bow. I have one on order.

From: Jed Gitchel

I wonder why he's not on the leather wall refusing to post pictures?

From: Nemophilist
Date: 24-May-23

"LOL"

From: Mike E
Date: 24-May-23

Seems he has arrow flite down pretty well. Also noticed on some of those shots he has the arrow fletched closed to half way down the shaft.

From: Jim Davis
Date: 24-May-23

The turks historically fletched some arrows in way that made them return to the shooter (noted in the book "Turkish Archer," IIRC.

From: 2 bears
Date: 24-May-23

No doubt he rigs the bow & arrows for the shots. He is a genius at that too. It still must take a whole lot of time to set up. He has the best hand/body to eye cordernation I have ever seen. I would never attempt to catch an arrow in a back quiver. Everything else it wouldn't hurt to miss. >>-->Ken

Now that's some trick shooting at its finest.

From: Jack Whitmrie jr
Date: 24-May-23

He's a gap shooter no such thing as instinctive shooting LOL

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 24-May-23

This dude doesn't 'settle in and aim for a few seconds.' No wonder he can't shoot good. lol

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 24-May-23

He's doing everything wrong. haha :D

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 24-May-23

I'm waiting for one of our 'wall experts to criticize his target form. lol

From: ottertails
Date: 24-May-23

"criticize his target form"... Ain't gonna happen Bob. They should be mesmerized speechless eh? Those form experts along with all the others that claim you need to aim/see the arrow are just flat out ignorant of what can be done with a bow and arrow...in denial because they lack that instinctive talent and look for crutches...tinker this and tinker that and only disrupt what should come naturally but can't find the way.

This kid's more than exceptional and of course we're seeing his best shot out of who knows how many it took...so what how many?! I've never seen anything like this kid's shooting before. I hope to learn more about him in the future and see where this talent of his takes him.

Think of decades ago with the Wilhelm brothers...yeh eh? Maybe this kid's related.

From: Rick Barbee
Date: 24-May-23

[[[ "Come on Rick you can do it with all that fancy shooting you do." ]]]

I don't have that kind of time on my hands, and have no desire to find it.

The kid definitely has a handle on physics. Like I said - I enjoy his videos.

Rick

Best I have seen. I bet he gets a good crowd and gets paid well at his shows.

From: jimmyblackmon
Date: 25-May-23

Well, Bob you are begging for it, so I'll make an observation.

First, this kid is a master at his craft. This took a LOT of work and I would think there is an engineer involved, or he has an engineer mind.

Now, as for how this would translate to a 3D range, well, who knows. The most well known trick shooter in the world is a great guy and also a master at his craft, for over 40 years, but he can't win a major 3D shoot. He shoots better than average, but his specialty is in trick shooting. As my dad used to say, "It's call "trick" shooting, because there is a trick involved."

Consistent form is required to shoot 10 rings all day on a 3D course or at a static paper target with concentric rings. There is no debating that, period.

So, if this young man is smart, he'll leave us wondering. If you have their attention where you want it, do not lose them by risking going to a target shoot. That's not his forte.

Now, off to inspect my deer stands. That's my forte.

From: Sawtooth (Original) Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

I had the pleasure of meeting and shooting with James this past weekend at our state shoot. The kid is unreal. Humble, polite, and intelligent when he speaks. I have never seen shooting skill to match his. It’s not smoke and mirrors- the kid can shoot.

From: Randog
Date: 25-May-23

Just wow!

From: Jason H
Date: 25-May-23

Am I seeing right? He’s shooting with two fingers.

From: Jeff Durnell
Date: 25-May-23

Back quiver shot... FIRST SHOT... Friday, May 26th?

From: Babysaph Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member
Date: 25-May-23

I’d say he shoots targets just fine.

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 25-May-23

That's a perfect demonstration of instinctive target form blowing the doors off 'target form' bus.

From: MGF
Date: 25-May-23

Good form and even aiming make it easier to hit better for the majority who aren't all that gifted. The super gifted might not need any of that but I do and so do many of you.

Some who are musically gifted can just pick up an instrument and play but that sure didn't work for me either.

Those of you who shoot well without a thought to form or aiming are lucky. Good for you but that doesn't make anybody else ignorant.

From: reddogge
Date: 25-May-23

It looked like he was shooting split finger but not sure.

From: grizz
Date: 25-May-23

Once again, the right way is what I say it is and nothing else exists. Carry on.

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 25-May-23

This video is a gem. It reveals the truth about instinctive shooting.

Wanna see more instinctive shooting...from horseback? Watch Lajos Kassai. That dude can shoot a stickbow.

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 25-May-23

Some guys hold still when they shoot. Others don't.

From: SteveBNY
Date: 25-May-23

jimmyblackmon nailed it. This guy is insanely gifted for sure. The average, and even most well above average athletes, using his skills as proof they too can be a great "instinctive" are on a path to mediocrity a best. But if you are ok with that, more power to you.

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 25-May-23

Hmmmm....I wonder if James suffers from target panic? lol

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 25-May-23

Good example of 'Just do it'.

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 25-May-23

Talent is 10% gift and 90% work.

From: Jeff Durnell
Date: 25-May-23

Yep.

Hard work and personal investment are disregarded when 'gifted' is used by those who haven't made the same commitments.

From: MGF
Date: 25-May-23

What's bothering you Bob? You seem determined to find an argument. Good luck.

From: Tethered Falcon
Date: 25-May-23

All around impressive but why arnt we talking about those Sheppard sling hits?! That’s truly amazing to achieve any level of accuracy with much less a flying target.

From: Bob Rowlands
Date: 25-May-23

No clicker?! Sheeesh...how can he short draw and hit anything? His arrow spines all wrong and everything. haha

From: JusPassin

From: shade mt
Date: 26-May-23

no matter what style, preference, or shooting you prefer, be it target, field ,3D whatever....it would be pretty hard to NOT be impressed.

Frankly i think the kid would be bored stiff with just plain old target shooting.

From: MGF
Date: 26-May-23

Is this irony? Did James recommended "The Push" for information on form before he explained how to get your nice tight group on target? Aren't they "target form" guys?

From: jimmyblackmon
Date: 26-May-23

I've been away for a long time, but I sense there is some sort of rub between shooting targets and hunting that has emerged here on the wall. Please enlighten me. As most of you know, I love archery and I certainly love hunting, but the reality is that I get about 10 hunting shots per calendar year and I get hundreds of thousands of shots at targets. I do prefer to hit those targets when I fling arrows at them, thus accuracy at whatever I'm shooting at matters - target or animal. Why must there be a distinction?

From: fdp
Date: 26-May-23

Jimmy that "rub" you speak of has been present on here for as long as I can remember.

From: sammyg
Date: 26-May-23

That's unreal, Wow

From: Rick Barbee
Date: 26-May-23

[[[ "Jimmy that "rub" you speak of has been present on here for as long as I can remember." ]]]

Actually since shortly (very shortly) after the introduction of the Leatherwall. LOL

That was about 1995 or 96. Don't remember for sure. I joined up about a month after it's debut.

Side note:

I'm not saying the boy can't shoot. He most certainly can, and amazingly well.

What I'm saying is - there's lots (LOTS) of hours that go into the successful production of many, if not most of those shots on video.

Rick

You know I got an image of James driving his old 4x4 truck, with a huge instinctive flag mounted in back for all to see. He's driving it through the neighborhood that has 'target shooting matters' signs planted on little sticks up front. haha

jimmyblackmon....never could figure out why you couldn't be both?

It is kinda silly to think a good target shooter could not be a good hunter also.

I never really had much interest in competing, nor am i really involved in the whole this technique, or that technique..

Truth of he matter is a good target shooter or competitor could be a very good hunter..or maybe not.

same as a guy that never competed could be a good hunter and a good shot...or maybe not.

depends on the person.

getting daylight...think i'll go sling a few. Wish i could shoot like the guy in the video...but i can't, so a bag target it'll be.

From: HRhodes

I wish I could too Shade. I’m amazed. I’m jealous of his eyes. Someone like that can probably see the stitches on a hundred mile an hour fastball. Gifted shooter for sure.
