Any young, strong, southpaw shooters here who can handle stickbows in the 60# range?

From: Altitude Sickness
Date: 08-May-23

Fuzzy, I can handle them 60# to 70# at 62 years old. Which I don’t consider old.

But prefer 50# and below

From: Lefty
Date: 08-May-23

Still shooting my Bear Hunter TD 62# at 29.5" with 620 gr arrows. Age 68. Requires regular practice to have a consistent draw. Have lesser poundage bows but find this one the most satisfying to shoot.

Still shoot my 62# Shrew. I’m 53!

I did before my neck/spine surgery. My limit was 65 pounds at age 62.

From: Boker
Date: 08-May-23

I feel like a weakling. At 45 have never shot anything over 50lbs enough to even mention it. typically stay around 45lbs but have shot lighter.

From: JRT51
Date: 08-May-23

Define "handle". I can shoot 55 about 10 or 15 times and could do 60 half that I suppose. At 73 the draw length would only shrink 1/2" with each shot.:)

Yep

Why do you ask? Can we help you with something?

I wish :o)

I'm young (60), and southpaw, so I meet 2 of the 3 criteria. Strong? I've always been able to outdo most folks in pull ups since I'm a scrawny lad, but never been much on bows over 50ish lbs.

From: Nrthernrebel05
Date: 08-May-23

Not this old fart. Barely can do 50

From: Razorbak

I love the heavy weight bows

From: Mahigunn
Date: 09-May-23

I didn't get serious about shooting traditional bows until I was 57. Most of my hunting bows were about 60 pounds.

From: RD
Date: 09-May-23

My heaviest now is 64# but I'm usually shooting 53#. After quadruple bypass 4 years ago I haven't really got my back to shooting Heavy bows, I just turned 75.

From: Jerry Gille

54 years old here and a big fat "no" to your question!

From: David McLendon
Date: 09-May-23

I shot 83# at my peak and settled to 67-70# for years but cancer has dragged me down to arond 50%. I'd like to make it back up, we'll see.

From: David McLendon

50#, my bad, typo...

From: fuzzy
Date: 10-May-23

Senior bowhunter I have a couple 60# stickbows I'd like to pass along to someone who can actually use them. My left shoulder is fine after surgery but I'm not willing to go through it again on my right. I'm 60 yo and 45 to 50# is what I can handle

From: Mpdh Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Nobody’s a weakling just because they can’t shoot a 60 lb. bow. We’re all different sizes and shapes!

I don't know about young, but why do you ask?

From: fuzzy

Pdk25 see my cimment just above yours

From: Fuzzy
Date: 11-May-23

I didn't call anyhoe "weakling" or intimate that older folks can't draw heavier bow weights. I'm looking for someone whgo meets my stated criteria tthat I can gift a couple of bows to.

From: Beendare
Date: 11-May-23

Thats a generous offer Fuzzy.

Lefty here with a long draw. I really wouldn’t use them….so save them for some young stud.

From: pdk25
Date: 11-May-23

Gotcha Fuzzy. I can handle them, but I have too many bows as is. Probably better to get them in someone's hands that can put them to use. I damaged a tendon in my string hand, and I am still at least several months out on my recovery. Been shooting RH the last couple months. Pulled 80# back RH a few days ago, but struggle with control. Can control 60# well RH, but can't wait to get back to shooting lefty.

From: pdk25
Date: 11-May-23

Very generous of you BTW. I might have something to gift someone that can handle over 80, if someone chimes in. Don't want to take over your post though.

From: Rigs Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

I'll be 53 this month and still shoot 61#.

Happy hunting, Jason

From: two4hooking

What kind of bows are they?

From: Fuzzy
Date: 12-May-23

too4hooking one's a recurve, one's a longbow, Rigs I was shooting 60 # when i was 53 to :)
