This was a tricky one being a lightweight. Stave had natural deflex in lower limb and major reflex off the top of the handle area. Very thin rings, had to go down quite a few to chase away violations I kept making. I used mahogany to build up the handle and walnut on the tips.

62", 25#@28". I was shooting for 30#, but chasing the tiller messed me up a little and she came in light. Nice shooter, though.

I'll post a few pics I took during the build, still getting a few coats of Tru-Oil on it.

Anyhoo, I love seeing everyone's builds on here so I hope you enjoy the pics. I'm already chasing a ring on the next gnarly one. One of these days I'll spring for the good stuff lol.

Sweet bow, it is hard to describe to someone the satisfaction of making a bow like this. Yes, chasing the tiller can sometimes end up lighter than we planned but it is what it is. I just finished what to me is my best bow, 62", 48 1/2# @26". I egg tanned a Beaver tail for the grip and hope to get another copperhead or rattler skin to back it. Even though it is a little heavier than what I was going for, it shoots very good and I love it. Good luck on the next bow

Well done sir. I like the locator grip and shelf. Does the shelf bring it to a center shot? John

From: wooddamon1 Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 05-May-23

Thanks guys. Appreciate it!

John, the string tracks slightly toward the center, so I added the shelf to bring the arrow even more over to center. Shoots some 30-35# cedars dead straight.

That’s a beautiful Osage bow. One you can shoot all day at that weight. Great job!

From: wooddamon1 Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 07-May-23

Thanks guys! This one's for my better half, who's used to shooting a 35# selfbow I made (accidentally;). We'll see how she likes it soon when she has time to fling a few.

I have to really concentrate on follow-through with the weight or I spray em all over the bag lol. It's a snappy one for the weight though. Got a beaver tail rest and plate on, waiting on a chunk of leather for the grip if she decides she wants one. I'll post a pic or two when it's all done :)
