I always try to group my feathers based an appearance per arrow.

More so with the ones I dye. Try to keep shades closer to the same on each arrow.

They all look the same to me. Barred Turkey feathers. More concerned with that the arrow flies well to its mark.

Craftsmanship is craftsmanship, don't have to explain it. We all have the little touches we do to our arrows. I don't sort feathers but do get into stains and cresting so my arrows look special.
I had a friend who shot plain shafts with some feathers stuck to them, he thought doing anything more to an arrow he was going to eventually break or loose was a waste of time.

I don’t, but it makes all kinds of sense if you really want your finished product looking as sharp as possible. Can’t be any more time consuming than a lot of other steps that people do, and if I had as much time into my arrows as we see in the Arrows of 20## threads every year, why wouldn’t you?
But as usual, the Boo-Birds are out in force…
Is it the entire internet that causes people to condemn anything that they don’t do themselves, or is it unique to LW??
@Greg - feel free to post pics of your finished arrows. A lot of us will enjoy seeing them.

My personal arrows get the left over feathers. The may have 3 different colors. Pretty doesn't kill.

I use the egg carton to hold all my feathers on the desk top in their sorted state. I just try to make the best arrows I can, Making arrows is a hobby unto itself and I enjoy it. This set of feathers is goi g onto some GT600s. My last set I made in 2014 and I am down to my last arrow.
There are 4 sets in the works I will post some pics for sure.

I try to match all three feathers for height and length. I don’t like it when one feather is higher than the other two.

No, but I do keep primaries and secondaries separate and on one arrow. I don't mix them on arrows.
