Hi, I have a bear takedown riser on the way. I'm debating using the riser inserts for a GN side quiver. I really like the idea of using them but have heard mixed reviews on them failing.Thoughts? Thanks

Just be careful tightening them. They can pull out and chip the riser.

Have 12 risers and it’s all I use other than the vintage Bear quivers. Cant go wrong with a side mounted GN.

Okay, thanks. That's good to hear. Maybe most of the times people have problems are from user error? I could see if you went too deep with a screw it would push out the insert. Wish they used the BW style inserts.

The riser inserts on Bear TDs are open ended. That means if you put in a screw that's too long, it will bottom out at the end of the drill hole and pull out the insert. As long as you don't use mounting screws/bolts that are too long, you'll be fine.

I have used Great Northern and other brand quivers for many years on my Bear takedowns. I’ve never had a problem but I never overtighten them.

Well I thought I'd give an update. I decided to go with the Selway vintage side mount quiver. Love it! Very solid. I like having it mounted in the inserts. Now just waiting on limbs haha

I have repaired a number that have pulled out. You can get much better inserts in stainless or brass at the hardware store. They are larger & screw in rather than just press fit. >>>----> Ken
